Louisiana Sandusky writes out her feelings about the terrorist bombing in Boston, Massachusetts earlier this week and the fertilizer plant explosion in Texas, among other things.

Dear Journal~

Louisiana Sandusky here.  I'm afraid I'm not doing too well .... my heart cracks wide open and bleeds ....

First the terrorist attack in Boston, Massachusetts, that killed 3 people (including a little 8 year old boy) earlier this week during the Boston Marathon (on Monday, the 15th) , and now the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas, that has killed anywhere from 5 to 15 people; the death toll from this could go even higher; so many people were affected by the bomb blast.  I just don't understand why God allows things like this to happen ....

I also cry because one of my friends in the adoption community I belong to has died.  Betty Jo Ciagalore in South Miami, Florida, died from complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease) last week, leaving behind two precious little boys, age five (not twins, by the way).  The boys are now with their grandmother.  I wonder why I hadn't heard from her; I am sorry I didn't write to her more than I have.  Now I can't update her on what has been going on in our lives.  I didn't even get to say goodbye and that truly hurts ....

She wasn't even forty five ... she was a little older than me.

Too, too young ....

Another member of our adoption community has also had tragedy strike her home: her youngest, one-year-old Caleb Darwin, died of complications from MRSA; he had gotten sick last week with pneumonia; somehow Caleb developed complications and ended up with MRSA.  MRSA, to tell you the truth, scares the living hell right out of me, because my own daughter, Bastienne Camille, six, had it about a month ago and she was very sick herself.  She also had septicemia; it was only by a God-given miracle that she even survived ... she is now home, recovering; she is gaining strength every day and her appetite is coming back, but she is still quite weak; she still tires rather easily.

I know God allows things such as the above (terrorist attacks, factory fires or explosions, or the death of a loved one, friend, or child) to occur, but I don't understand why.  I know we are supposed to trust in Him during times such as these, and rely on Him, bu tit doesn't make it any easier.  Who are we to question God's purposes??  Yet sometimes I find myself doing this very thing; sometimes things just don't seem to make any sense whatsoever.

Tonight at eight o'clock, our church is holding a special memorial service for the Boston Marathon victims, as well as the victims involved in the fertilizer plant fire/explosion in West, Texas; we want to show our love and support for those most directly affected.  There will probably be a lot of tears shed as people, including myself, try to come to grips with what has happened this week here in America.

Well, I hate to go, but it's time for me to get the gang ready and loaded into the bus and then head over to church.  I will write in here again soon; hopefully things will start to improve because right now, everything is confusing, scary, and dark.  My family is scared, and so am I; we must learn to lean on God and have Him help us through these uncertain times!  Take care and God bless; and God, please have mercy upon America again!

~Love, your friend in Tennessee, Louisiana May.  :( *Tears!*
