A woman is recovering from injuries incurred in a tornado. This is her story.

As I lie here in my bed here at the hospital, I can't help thinking about what happened to me.  It is a miracle that I even survived.

I was in an EF-4 tornado in Hutchinson, Kansas.  I lost everything but the clothes on my back from the storm.  I was badly hurt (two broken legs, a concussion, a broken nose, two black eyes, a punctured lung, numerous puncture wounds and bruises, and a broken jaw), but by God, I somehow managed to survive!

I really don't remember much after the tornado came; I do, on the other hand, remember the sky turning black and seeing a big tornado headed straight for me as I ran into my house.  Not even a half hour later, there was a terrifyingly loud roar and the sound of glass shattering and walls collapsing over and around me.  That was when everything went black.

When I woke up, I was suprised to find myself in the hospital, where I am now as I write this.  It is difficult at best because it hurts to breathe, I hurt like hell, I can't move around (or get comfortable), and I'm hooked up to nearly every tube (or line) known to mankind.  My vision is blurry, and it does not take much to make me tired or dizzy.

I learned about what had happened mainly from the medical staff tending to me.  When I heard that I had survived a monster tornado, I was truly amazed because the thing looked so huge.  I had been in more than enough tornadoes to know what to do in case of their occurrance; I knew what to do in order to prepare for such a disaster and how to get to safety.  Then this monster came, and I nearly ended up losing my very life.

~To be continued!~
