I'ts been a long time coming.  Three months, and it's finally come to this, the moment we have all been praying for.

My husband, Shane, woke up yesterday.  He had been in a lengthy coma after a devastating head injury due to a car wreck, but a few days ago, he started moving around, and yesterday, he opened his eyes for the very first time!  It was so good to see his baby blues again!!

While he is awake, doctors are cautioning us that Shane still has a very long road ahead for him.  They aren't sure as to how much brain damage he has suffered or if he will ever return to his former self.  Yet the fact remains: Shane is EMERGING from his coma!! It has been a huge answer to all our prayers!!

I am writing this from home while I do some laundry and put it away before I head back to the hospital to be with Shane.  I also wanted to let the kids know that their daddy has awakened and that I still miss them both very, very much!  It is so good to see their little faces and to be able to hold them into my arms!  I wish I could be with them right now, but Shane's needs are more important and I need to be with him at the hospital, in case anything else (good or bad) should happen.

We don't know what the future holds but we'll take it one day at a time.  I am just thrilled to pieces that Shane has finally awakened up after 12 weeks of unconsciousness or not knowing whether he ever would wake up again!  Just keep those prayers coming; Shane and I (Elizabeth) would greatly appreciate it!  Thanks ina dvance!
