Summer came that year
emerging from Spring’s Recession
ripened from Spring’s Waterings
sending my senses reeling;

a Siren Call
utmost sensual
lodged in my
consciousness
in that Summer Season of Firsts
wherein lay our utmost joys and emergings
residing
in quiet walks and explorings
in Touching Quiverings
revealing ourselves to ourselves
merged in
Summer’s Swimmings
Boyfriend and Girlfriend
gentlest longings;
flowerings;
inside the Cornucopia
of Penultimate  Culminations
only
youth know;
 inside Encapsulated  Meanings
which decades later
return to haunt me
making me smile
with a twinge of grief;
because few
having grown older
really prefer that
to Summer’s Glow.

We are best often
in our youth
where Innocence
has not yet been tainted
by Red Knowledge Bleeding;
where my Summer

and Summer are
still yet merged
for all time
in those most sacred
of intimacies
only Summer bestows.
