A girl is very close to her best friend. This is their story.

If I had a sister, I would want her to be just like my best friend, Sugar Mae.

Sugar Mae is everything I'm not: kind-hearted, compassionate, cares for others instead of herself, and fun to be around.  (I'm pig-headed, stubborn, and extremely opinionated; I personally don't know how Sugar Mae can be friends with the likes of me.)

Sugar Mae and I met in Brownies five years ago, when we were in elementary school.  (We're in seventh grade now.)  It was instant friendship; we hit it right off.

I have three brothers who are a pain.  They are younger than me: they are six, four, and two.  They are very loud, energetic, and full of spit and vinegar, as Mama and Daddy would say.  They are always in some sort of mischief and they never leave me (or my things) alone.  It's no wonder I have a deadbolt lock on my bedroom door, just so I can keep the little rugrats out!

Anyway, Sugar Mae and I are always together.  Chances are, if you see one, you'll see the other not far behind.  It's as if we are twins, we get along so famously.  There isn't anything we can't discuss, and we know each other's moods or dreams better than our own family members.

I have secretly adopted Sugar Mae as my honorary sister.  Whenever I mention our family, I say I have a sister and three brothers, even though Sugar is not, technically, related.  That's how good we get along.  I have often told Mama and Daddy I wish they could adopt Sugar; it would beat having three nosy babies tagging around me!!

Well, I hate to run, but it's about time for the bus to come, and I want to sit by Sugar Mae's side before one of the snobby girls or bullies get to her before I do!  Take care and see you later!
