Terri Hershey here. Thought an update was in order: it's been over a year since I last blogged on here.
With a family of growing kids, it's not easy to make any time for myself. I hope you understand.
David is now 10 years old and just completed the 4th grade. He did very well this past school year, and he has learned to interact with people more. We are very proud at the progress he has made. (As you know from past entries, David has autism.) He has turned into a fine young man with good moral character.
Our other two children, Danielle Grace (3) and Nathaniel Luca (1 year) are doing well too. Danielle Grace will be starting Pre-K next year and is proving to be as smart as her big brother. Meanwhile, Nathaniel is all boy: rough-and-tumble, a regular bruiser who doesn't let falls or scrapes slow him down. They all keep me hopping.
David is getting ready to sing at this year's Nashville's Fourth of July celebration being held downtown. He will be singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic. He is really looking forward to it, but personally, I think he's looking forward to the fireworks show afterwards more! LOL He absolutely loves fireworks!
We are getting ready to add to our family: we are in the process of adopting a child from here in America. We are interested in adopting a girl from Washington, DC; she is 2 and her name is Lilyanna Marie. She was born addicted to crack, so she has a lot of problems. It will be interesting to see if we get approved and when she comes if we do. But I am willing to take that chance. Already having a child with special needs (David) has opened up an entirely new world for me, and I am willing to help another child in need.
Just pray that we get to adopt Lilyanna!
The weather has been hot, but this morning, we had some powerful thunderstorms roll through Nashville. We didn't have any power for most of the morning and part of the afternoon, but it's since come back. David spent the morning crying and holding his head; he doesn't like loud sounds, but once the storms abated and went away, he calmed down and soon he was his usual happy self again. He then wanted to go swimming, but I made sure that the lightning and thunder was gone before sending him to the pool.
Meanwhile, Nathaniel and Danielle slept through the storms. I don't know how, but they did! LOL
I'm just glad we didn't have any damage; for that I can be very grateful!
Well, David is yowling; he wants his supper. Tonight it's his favorite: hot dogs and mac and cheese. I will write in here again soon; sorry it's been so long!
~Love, your friend, Terri in Tennessee.
