Dear All~
Sorry if I haven't written; with four kids under the age of nine years of age (and two of them still in diapers), well, free time for me (or Michael) is a precious and rare commodity. I hope you understand.
Kenai and Mattaq are enjoying their summer break from school, They got out last week; they don't go back until the day after Labor Day (September 2). That's less than three months away from now. With the longer days, they'd better enjoy all they can out of their summer vacation! They passed with flying colors: Mattaq will be in 2nd grade; meanwhile, little Kenai will be entering kindergarten this year. He started pre-K last year and loved every minute of it!
They are being very adoring, patient big brothers to their younger siblings: Taqaq Joshiah, who is a little over a year old and big sister, Bella Michaela, who will be two next month. Michael and I are very proud of them; we make sure to spend plenty of quality time with them, so they don't get jealous of the two youngest children.
The weather here in Alaska is warmish, with temperatures in the sixties to lower seventies; but the mosquitoes are out in full force. We are having to buy extra mosquito repellent (with DDT), so to cut down any chances of anybody getting West Nile virus. We don't let the pets out late at night; if they have to do their business, they do it in a designated spot in our garage, and then Michael cleans it up when they are through. I don't want them getting sick either!
Seeing that the days are lengthening, we don't see the aurora nearly as much. It makes me sad because the auroras are so beautiful up here. We have had a spectacular auroral season up here in The Far North; one of the best aurora displays I can rightly remember since moving to Alaska (though, at times, they still frighten me, especially when they are at their most intense in color)!
I am still battling with my health: between the MS and the fibromyalgia (as well as other issues), I don't know which is worse. I have been battling depression as well; seems that since little Taqaq came, I have been sad, more so than usual. I have been seeing a psychiatrist, to try to get a grip on my emotions; he suggested that I do more in the way of journaling, to write my feelings down, get them out in the open. I might do that; it couldn't hurt .... I have been a very bad jouralist as of late ... two years since my last entry?? WOW!!
Michael and the children are fine; it's ME who is falling apart! Maybe Michael ought to leave me out for the bears to feast upon or at least shoot me, like a horse! LOL
I have some thrilling news: Mattaq accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour on Easter Sunday! He went up to the altar, asked the Lord to forgive his sins and asked Him to come into his heart! I was so proud of him!! (I didn't hear it, of course, but I could see it happening, right in front of us, as we sat in the pew at church!) I was so happy, I bawled, right in front of everybody! So now three members of our immediate family are part of the Family of God: Michael, myself, and our oldest child, Mattaq! (Hopefully, Bella, Kenai, and Taqaq will do the same when they are older! I hope so!)
Michael has been a very big help with the children on my sick days or on the days where depression threatens to overwhelm me. I think I'll keep him: he's the best husband, soulmate, and friend a woman could ever hope to ask for! I am truly blessed!!
He's still working on the weekends at the sports bar, but on the weekdays, he's mainly with me and the children.
Well, I hate to run, but my eyes are doing their jiggidy thing again and it's making me lightheaded; so I will lie down for a while. I will write in here again soon; hopefully I won't wait TWO YEARS before I do so! LOL Take care and may God bless you as much as He's been blessing the Doucet family lately!
~Love, your friend in Alaska, Jenna Aurora. :)
