I will try to add one every other day or so. I tend to favor fiction but am not above a dash into non-fiction every now and then.
Let's get started with the first recommendation:

Hector Hugh Munro (18 December 1870 – 13 November 1916), better known by the pen name Saki, and also frequently as H. H. Munro, was a British writer whose witty, mischievous and sometimes macabre stories satirised Edwardian society and culture. He is considered a master of the short story and often compared to O. Henry and Dorothy Parker. Influenced by Oscar Wilde, Lewis Carroll, and Kipling, he himself influenced A. A. Milne, Noël Coward, and P. G. Wodehouse.[1]

I highly recommend "Regnald" a series of short stories by the same name. These are Munro's precious glimpses, hilarious in nature,
into Edwardian sensibilities.

"Yours Truly Johnny Dollar." A dectective/mystery radio series down loadable.
If you can forgive the sometimes scratchy sound you might
get addicted as I did. Late 40's mid 50's.
720 episodes here.
Bring snacks.
I have a soft spot for the detective/mystery genre Americana style.
"Dollar" is one the best.
Episodes were written often by some of Hollywood's best writers and played by geniune Hollywod stars of the era.

James Oliver Curwood
Curwood wrote over thirty books, many in a genre which might be described as "wilderness romances." I have not read all thirty but the one I am recommending is "God's Country-And The Woman.

Leinster is a master story teller.
I loved this one and the writer's works.
Here is where we see a perfect audio wedding between an excellent writer, an excellent reader (one of the best I have ever heard) and an excellent story and recording. Loved it.

Hands down the best audio on this topic-10 hours worth.
Don't miss this one.
Rome as a prime example of the psychopatic state and of the Blood Simple society.
Hear Dan Carlin's excellent podcast on the Decline of the Roman Empire. The best I audio I have heard on this and over 10 hours long but worth it.
Riveting throughout and told in an incredibly accessible style. You come away understanding the Roman Empire and the Psychopatic State.

Wilkie Collins
I am recommending the works of Wilkie Collins, especially "The Moonstone." Collins can stretch a story to the max, but that can be ok if you have the time to listen.
"I like "Moonstone" the best and "The Lady in White" and "Armadale" in that order. Others I have not read.
