Hola!

It's me, your friend, Hector Olivio Ramirez.  Today finds me at yet another festival, where I am waiting for mi hermano y mi hermana to come onstage and perform.

Both Omar and Maria-Elena are scheduled to perform, as part of the conjunto group, Los Hermanos Echeverria.  They have been performing with 'em for a few dates at different festivals, and they are getting quite the attention.

I guess that's good, but I'm scared that stardom may get to their heads.  That can happen to a person once they get to be known or discovered.  I pray and hope to Mother Mary that this doesn't happen; they're only kids, especially little Maria-Elena; heck, she's only ocho anos!!  I am sure Omar can handle it, but I don't think Maria-Elena can; she's way too young!!

They tried out for America's Got Talent when they came here to Austin, Texas, but they didn't make it.  I was so disappointed; they deserved a chance to go on national tv!! I bet they would have made it had the judges saw them!  

Omar still wants to be the next big thing in conjunto music.  Maria-Elena just wants to be like Selena or Jennifer Lopez, who are her favorites.  Both have wonderful singing voices for their ages and have been working very hard at their vocal lessons.  We are all very proud of them, but I am hoping that they find time to be a kid; they have their whole life ahead of 'em!

Pray that Omar and Maria-Elena stay grounded and pray that they do well in their performance!!
