A girl becomes the target of bullies while online. This is her story.

I should have listened to my parents.  Because I didn't, I am now permanently grounded from using the computer ever again.

It all started innocently enough.  Several of my friends were posting funny stuff about one of the girls at our school on Facebook.  What I read cracked me up and so I joined in on the fun, excepting things have a way of turning bad when one leasts expect it to, and pretty soon, these so-called "friends" stared talking about yours truly.  Somewhere along the line, things got out of hand, and well ... things got pretty nasty.

I wsa shocked.  Some of what my "friends" were posting about me were nothing but fabricated lies: they were saying I was hitting on several members of the football team when I wasn't doing anything or seeing any of the guys.  Besides, I am only 14; I'm not allowed to date until I'm at least 16 or 17, just two or three more years.

Another lie was that I was snorting coke (one of my friends had seen me putting sinus medication into my nostrils; I have terrible allergies and sinus problems); now people think I'm a drug adict and am sniffing cocaine!

How I got banned from using the computer was this:  one day last week, Mom went to look up something for her job (as her own computer was in the shop, getting a serious upgrade); the computer chimed, signalling that I had mail.  Well, Mom innocently opened it up, and there was a nasty picture of me that had obviously been photoshopped.  When Mom questioned me about it, I told her the truth, but somehow she didn't believe me.  So now I'm grounded from the computer, and Mom and Dad have taken the computer away from me for good.

All because of a fabricated lie and a stupid fake picture that my stupid "friends" created as a cruel, mean joke.

I'm just glad that school isn't in session, as we're on summer break; I don't think I can face the kids there.  I have been made a pariah, and I don't care if I ever see my friends ever again.  My life has been turned upside down, and my parents don't trust or believe me, even though I am telling them the honest truth about what really happened (or what I can figure out, that is).  My life as I know it is over and done!

Stupid Facebook! Stupid computer! Stupid friends! No, stupid me, for actually trusting them at one time!  UGH!!
