My name is Megan Reuter. I live in Ocala, Florida, with my husband, Trent, and our three children: Sparrow Grace (10), Timber Michael (5), and Aeryn Hope (18 months). My husband is a retired military cop (Marines); meanwhile, I am a homemaker. My children are my world; they are my everything.
Things, however, are not going very well at the current time. Our precious baby girl is in the hospital yet again, fighting for her very life. She was born with a deletion of her 18th chromosome, and it has caused her numerous problems. At the age of 1 1/2, she cannot walk, talk, or sit up by herself or even feed herself without help. Doctors don't konw how far she will go in her development. She is functioning at the level of a six month old; she needs a lot of care. She has been in and out of the hospital, mostly from pneumonia (her lungs are bad).
The reason Aeryn is in the hospital this time is because she has pneumonia. Again. Then her lung collapsed earlier this morning, and they had to put in a chest tube and move her to ICU, where they put her on a ventilator, so her lungs can get a chance to rest.
It is so hard seeing my baby girl looking so sick and helpless. If I could change places with her, I would, in a heartbeat; this is no way for a mama to live!
The doctors have Aeryn knocked out, so she can rest. They have her in a medically induced coma. Maybe it's for the best for her, but for us, it's a nightmare! I wouldn't wish this on my own worst enemy; nobody should ever have to endure something like this!! EVER!!
Just be praying for a miracle for Aeryn, and for us! We would really appreciate any and all prayers and well wishes! Thanks in advance!
