Howdy!

My name is Miri Daniela Huertes.  I am 16 years old; I live with mi familia en San Antonio, Texas (Tejas).  I am in the tenth grade at Rio Delarosa High School.

I live with mi mami, papi, abuela, abuelo, y mi hermano and my little sister.  My brother is 17 (one year older than me); my sister is 13. I get along well with Diego; as for Maricela, not so much.  Seems she and I are always going around and around about her borrowing my clothes without asking me first.

When I grow up, I want to be able to go to college and become a teacher; I want to teach primary school age kids, like my mami did before she got sick with lupus.  Now my mami can't work; she is in a wheelchair and gets sick and sometimes ends up in the hospital whenever her lupus acts up.

But tomorrow that will be the last thing on my mind.  I am going to a friend's house after school; we are going to go trick or treating and go to a haunted house after that.  It promises to be a lot of fun. I am going to dress as the Bride of Frankenstein; as for my friend, Carmela, she is going as a zombie cat (don't ask; but that was what she told me when she texted me over my phone earlier today when I was in study hall).  Should be interesting, to say the very least.  I can't wait to see her getup!

My life is pretty good most of the time, but as I said, I have issues with my little sister and with my mom's illness.  I wish I could have a mom who could do more things with me; most of the time it's Papi or "the grands" who watch over my little sister and myself (Diego can take care of himself; he's very responsible and mature for his age).

I will be sad when Halloween ends 'cause then it will mean all the scary fun will be over.  But then we have Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays to look forward to.  If there was one thing I wish I could get for my mom, it would be good health, but only God can do that.  I'm not God, nor am I a miracle maker.  That's all I want: for my mom to be healthy again, just like she used to before lupus stole her health away.

Well, I hate to run, but I gotta do my homework (English and Math), then I'm going to call On The Border and order takeout for us (enchiladas! Enchiladas! Enchiladas! I love their commercial; once I hear it, it's stuck in my head forever! LOL).  I will write in here again soon; 'til then, take care and God bless!
