Big. Fluffy. About the size of a small dog. Intense orange eyes. Strong chin. Bushy tail. Big, well-tufted paws. Long, silken fur the color of burnished gold. Intelligence unparalled.
All of this adds up to one furry package. His name is Chutzpah, and he's two years old, but acts more like a kitten in temperament. He is always interested in what is going on around him and plays practically nonstop.
We adopted Chutzpah from the local "no-kill" animal shelter here in Garden Grove, California, where we live. It ws love at first sight. He saw us, we saw him; and the rest is history, as they so often say.
We have had Chutzpah now for the past year. It's been a wild, joyful ride ever since.
Chutzpah was named by my wife, who is Jewish. She thought he looked like a small, furry Jewish attorney. She thought Chutzpah was a good Jewish name, so that is what she christened our furry baby boy.
Chutzpah, like all cats, has many quirks and habits that have endeared himself into our hearts. He loves to lick people's hair (much to their annoyance, and the longer, the better), purring like a motorboat all the while. He loves to purr in people's ears. He has to be close by someone; he doesn't like to be left out of anything or out of any conversation. If the conversation turns heated, he starts meowing loudly and incessantly, to get his "two cents" in.
Chutzpah loves to snuggle up on any lap he can find; people have called him one of the friendliest, "purry-est" cats found anywhere. If he is by himself, he will curl up by the fireplace and sleep until someone comes home; then at the sound of the door unlocking, he is instantly up and all business, ready to tell his "family of humans" about his day.
I hope you liked hearing about Chutzpah. He is my best friend, and me and my family cannot imagine our lives without him. He is certainly one of a kind!
