Dear Family (Mommy, Daddy, and All My Brothers and Sisters):
Hi! This is Jodie!
I just wanted to let you know how much I love each and every one of you! You all have been so very good to me, and you have done your best to make sure I am happy and comfortable. You don't know how much I appreciate that!
If I could talk and tell you how much I love you, believe me, I WOULD!! You have done so much for me, and you have made sure that I get the best care! I love it when you hold me, and I love it when you read to me or feed me! I also love it when you tickle me and make me laugh!
It ISN'T easy being like this..not being able to walk or talk, or do a lot of things for myself. But you never get mad at me or tell me I am a pain in the neck; you just go on loving me and making sure I am happy, as though nothing were wrong with me. You treat me like a normal little girl, and you don't know HOW much I appreciate that!!
I know by the decorations on the windows and by the lights and the tree that it is going to be Christmas very soon. I have always loved Christmas, and I have always loved getting new stuff every year from Santa Claus! Seeing you all being so happy makes ME happy, and I hope Santa brings you all nice things! You deserve it!!
I also hope that you all are well and healthy. I don't like it when any of you get sick or need to go to the hospital; I get so scared you are going to die; and I DON'T LIKE being scared!
If I could get you something for Christmas, it would be a poem or a letter. But since I can't go shopping like you can (being in a wheelchair and not being able to do much for myself or being able to talk much), I will try to do this letter (with mommy's help). This letter is my Christmas present to you. It is a letter to say I love you all so much, and you are the best family I know! Thank you for loving me, and thank you for taking care of me!
I would also like to add what I want Santa to bring ME for Christmas. I want warm socks, warm sweaters, warm pants, new pretties for my hair, a teddybear (or two), and new diapers. I also want new shoes; the ones I have now are starting to hurt and pinch my feet!! Tell Santa, next time you see him, what I want, and show him this letter, so he can see my list. Okay??
I hope you have the BEST Christmas EVER, and I hope Santa brings you what you want! And I hope you have a very good New Year, too!
