Wendy Crockett writing.  It has been several months since I last wrote.

Taylor (my husband) remains about the same, but there have been little improvements.  He can move his one side a little, but his speech remains garbled and hard to understand.  He sounds like he has a mouthful of marbles when he talks.  He also has short term memory loss: he cannot remember anything five minutes after you've told him, yet at the same time, he can remember things from 10 to 15 years ago, even certain events from his childhood.

He has been working very hard at his therapy sessions, and I couldn't be more proud of him for wanting to come back from getting shot in the head during a robbery attempt.  (Taylor is a cop.  He works for the Houston Police Department; he has been a cop for over 10 years and until this injury, he had been a formidable member of the force.  He loved his job and did it exceedingly well.)

Thank God for the members of our church family, as well as the police force and our own family members, who have reached out in love in our time of need!  They have been stopping by regularly, to bring us food, money (I tell them that isn't necessary, but they refuse to listen; they say we need it with all the bills piling in), and so much more.  They are making our house accessble for Taylor whenever he has to use his wheelchair (usually for longer distances; for shorter trips, he uses a quad cane and wears a brace on his affected leg).

Doctors are amazed at his progress.  They didn't think he would ever wake up, let alone talk, write, walk, or even feed himself again.  Taylor is starting to do all these things and more; it has been nothing short of a miracle from God!

Well, I hate to go, but it's time for Taylor to take his evening medications and then go to bed for the night.  He has a busy day of therapy tomorrow before the bad weather comes in (it is slated to move in Wednesday afternoon; we could have as much as a half foot or more of snow as well as sleet and freezing rain).  Take care and keep those prayers coming; they're the reason why Taylor is doing as well as he is!  Thanks and God bless!
