Hi! My name is Cincinnati Askew. I am 13 years old. I live in Portsmouth, Ohio, but was born in Cincinnati (hence, my first name; my parents grew up there and loved it, so they named me after the city in which they were raised). Simple enough, isn't it?? :)
I have long, shaggy black hair, dark brown eyes, and a bad case of pimples. I am fairly gangly in appearance, and I think I am going to take after Dad's side of the family: most of them are tall. At 13, I am already knocking at 6' tall. I am quite taller than half of my classmates (though some of them have gotten even ME beat!). I'm nothing special to look at; I look like a typical teenage boy.
I am in the eighth grade. School is okay, I guess, but I have been on Christmas break for the past week; we go back on January 2nd (Thursday), so I only have a few days left to enjoy what's left of my vacation. I had a good Christmas, as far as Christmases go; my best present this year was a scooter from my Dad and Mom. They knew I wanted it, so they got it for me. I know I shall get much enjoyment out of it once the weather decides to warm up!
At school, my homeroom teacher is Mrs. Porter. I think homeroom and study hall are my favorite classes; I'm not much on academics, but I DO try my best, in order to please Mom and Dad. They expect me to try my best, which I do, 'cause I know if I don't, I will surely get grounded until I bring my grades up. They're very strict that way.
When I grow up, I would like to go into the Marines. My dad was a gunny in the Marines; he made the military his career until he retired shortly before I got out of fourth grade. He went in when he was like 17 or 18. He still can fit into his uniform and often wears it on days like Memorial Day or Veteran's Day or in the city's annual Fourth of July parade; his attitude is, "once a Marine, always a Marine". So I guess it's no surprise that I would like to follow in his footsteps: go into the Marines, serve my country, and see the world.
My mom was a teacher but a back injury curtailed that career; she now collects disability and has had several back surgeries. 'Course, I didn't help any: when I was born, I weighed 10.5 pounds; I was a whopper of a baby!
I have one sister, Morgana, who is seven ... and a regular pest. She is always trying to get me into a world of trouble; nothing makes her happiest than narcing on me and getting on Mom and Dad's good side. All she has to do is smile that winsome gap-toothed grin of hers or bat those big, obsidian eyes of hers and get on their good graces, and then my butt is grass!! Happens each and every time: drives me butt-crazy!!
Well, I hate to go, but I smell supper cooking; it's a chili-and-mashed potatoes kind of night. It really smells great!! I will write in here again soon; until then, this is Cincinnati Askew saying so long! Take care and God bless!
~Cincinnati. :)
