Trying to forget an old flame.

Can it ever be over?

You have parted and go your separate ways, but can it ever be over. Can you honestly say you have forgotten him? You wonder if he still holds a place in his heart for you. Someone on the street reminds you of him. Your heart skip a beat. He is everywhere. You just cannot forget him. What can you do about it?

They say time has a way of easing pain. But you wonder, does it? Can you really forget wonderful memories you shared? What was it you said, or did that made him leave? Why did he lose his love for you? Was there someone else? Questions seem to walk through your mind, with no answers.

You find you are in a trance when speaking to someone. They can not understand the pain you are experiencing. Only people in your place know. What is the solution? Close your eyes to your broken heart? Don’t listen to it?

Try to attend functions where other men are present. Tell yourself memories need to be put away, like a corsage from your high school prom. Life must go on without him. Hard as it may be, you have to face reality, he is not coming back. Soon the pain will ease, as years pass, and someone new enters your life.

Ah! At last, you feel you can once again conquer the world, you have finally forgotten him. Then out of a clear blue sky, a familiar face appears before your eyes. You wonder if you are dreaming. You want to walk over to him and pour your heart out. Tell him you are sorry, take you back. Tell him you still love him. Then you hear a small voice cry out, and a child extending his hand. Your eyes fill with tears. You lost your chance. He can never be yours. But can it ever be over.
