Today is a monumental day for our family, one that we will never forget as long as we live.

We picked up our new daughter, Audrey Kryzstina, whom we adopted from Poland.  We had been fighting to get her for over two years and just last month, we got an early Christmas present: our adoption was approved!  And today, we went to the airport to pick up our daughter.

Our daughter.  Even the words cause me to tear up even now!  

Audrey is BEAUTIFUL!  She has long, straight auburn-colored hair, big, grey-blue eyes, a light sprinkling of freckles on her nose and cheeks, and a thin build.  She is altogether PERFECT!  And she is FINALLY ours!! OURS!!  OURS!!

I know things may seem overwhelming to Audrey right now, but we, as her new family, will do eveyrthing in our power to help her adjust.  Adjust to new people in her life (us, her parents, and her new brothers and sisters), new animals (our two Pomeranians, Lucky and DImples, who will probably bark their heads off at the new stranger entering their world), new acquaintances (neighbors, friends, members of the community) and new places.  It won't be easy, but at least now she has a chance to know what it is going to be like to have a family and a home to call her very own!

Well, we're going to take Audrey out to eat and then home. I am sure she will be tired by the time we are through; she's had a very long flight, and I am sure she is already exhausted.
