A man decides on what to do about his wife, who is fighting for her life in the hospital after she develops complications after surgery.
Right now, things are touch and go. There isn't really anything I can do at this point except pray for a miracle.
My wife, Audrianna, is in the ICU ward. She is very sick. She had surgery to take off excess weight and somehow during the extubation process, she suffered a stroke and is now comatose. Doctors do not expect her to pull through. Her condition at current time is extremely serious. In addition to that, she also has pneumonia and may have sepsis; her white blood count is alarmingly high and she is feverish.
I have been keeping in close contact with Audri's family and with our older kids, who have been running things at home. Naturally, everybody is as concerned about Audri as I am. The only time I seem to sleep is in snatches; I'm lucky I get even four hours a sleep a night. This has been going on for the past week, and I am beyond the point of exhaustion.
Now the doctors are saying that Audri may have suffered extreme brain damage and paralysis on one side: she isn' t responding to their tests the way she should. Yet I am not one who easily gives up hope: we both are strong Christian people, and we believe in a God that can do the impossible. So right now I am hanging onto my faith and believing for a miracle for her.
I don't know what the future will hold, but if things don't change soon, I may have to make a deicision regarding pulling the plug if there is no improvement by this time next week. I don't want to do this, but as I hear more bad news piled upon bad news, this may be our only viable option.
