An update from the Doucet family from Alaska.

Image of firewood (c) 2013, by Karla Dorman.

 Howdy from Fairbanks, Alaska!

This is your friend, Jenna Aurora, writing.  Hope this finds y'all well; as for me, I have been busy dealing with my ongoing frustrations with Social Security Disability (they keep telling me I am not disabled *ENOUGH*; I'm in a WHEELCHAIR, for God's sake!!), not to mention, trying to raise four active children (ages 1 to 6 1/2 years).  I am beginning to think it was a mistake to have another one, especially one as active as Taqaq ...

Just today I had to put him in time out because he had a meltdown at church.  I was NOT pleased.  Then Kenai went into time out with his brother, Mattaq, because he smacked Mattaq with his AFO.  Now Mattaq has a nice welt on his head and two little boys are cooling off in the time out chair.  They are still mad at each other; they keep on giving each other dirty looks.  The only one who behaved was the baby, but then, Bella Michaela is ALWAYS good.  Michael says that she is just like me.

I don't know if that's a good thing or not.  LOL

It's cold here, but this is Alaska.  That is nothing new.  It's in the minus teens here, with snow on the ground, but today is clear and sunshiney out.  There may be auroras in the offing, so I am online for now because later there could be difficulty.  Once the auroras are out, they can disrupt radio, phone, and Internet signals and availability can be sketchy to nonexistant.  Such as life here in the Great Land .... And Michael is getting ready to put the fireplace on .... he went out to get some firewood, so the house will be warm and toasty once the fire gets going ....

My health is okay at best.  Some days I am on top of the world; other times, it's a struggle to get out of bed, let alone, get around easily.  And then the stupid people at the Social Security have the AUDACITY to tell me I am NOT disabled ENOUGH?? I can't WALK without help and some days I can't even walk at ALL.  I am so tired of fighting with them; there's NO telling how long this will go on because I'm about to pull every last hair out of my head!!

I wish I could work again, but my health will not allow it, so I stay home and try to take care of four active children.  I'm just glad the two oldest are in school; that, at least, takes some of the stress off of me!  And Michael does his levelheaded best to help me, as does my sister, Jerrica, which I greatly appreciate!

We had a good Christmas.  The kids got scads of toys and games, and Michael presented me with a new diamond ring, not to mention, a new computer; my last computer gave up the ghost, so that is another reason why you haven't heard from me in such a long while.

Now tomorrow is Martin Luther King Jr. Day (whoopie!), and so there will be no  mail, plus a lot of the city, borough, and state offices will be closed.  No school either for Mattaq or Kenai.  So that means I will be wrestling with four children tomorrow.  I just hope my MS and fibromyalgia decide to behave themselves!  Michael works, but not until the evening, so at least he will be home most of the day.

Well, I think it is time to get two little demon children out of time out; I think they've been punished long enough.  And besides, Kenai looks remorseful; I think is ready to apologize to his brother.  I hope so; I didn't raise my boys to beat each other up!  There is to be no fighting or violence in this house; the boys know this.  And that is why they got punished.  They have to konw right from wrong and that Maman and Daddy (us) do NOT allow that in our home!

Will write in here again soon; until then, take care and God bless!  This is Jenna Aurora Doucet signing off!

~Love, your friend in Alaska, Jenna Aurora.  :)
