My sister Jorja Ilene is 22 years old yet she seems much younger.  She still loves to play with dolls, not to mention, color in coloring books, watch cartoons on televsion, and read picture books.

Jerja was born with a mental disability.  She has Down syndrome, meaning she has an extra chromosome; this measly little chromosome caused physical characteristics (slanting eyes, small ears, thick tongue that seems too large for her mouth, short, stubby fingers, and a thick neck) and mental disabilities that left her with the mind of a very young child.  She looks like a grown woman, but she acts more like a four-year-old child.

In addition to that, Jorja has heart problems.  She has had several major heart surgeries and faces at least two more before all is said and done.  She has been in and out of hospitals because of her heart/surgeries or because of pneumonia; she is prone to getting sick; even a simple cold can land her there.  Her health has always been delicate.

Jorja is a very happy person with a sunny disposition.  Nothing really upsets her, but she doesn't like being chided for anything or told what to do.  She'll then get an attitude and then Mom or I have to correct her, which she absolutely HATES.

I can't imagine my life without Jorja.  She is certainly one of a kind, and I am glad she is my sister!  I will be writing more about her; but right now, I am at work, and if my boss catches me writing, I may get fired!  LOL  Take care; God bless!  Talk to you again!
