I can hardly believe how fast you are both growing before my eyes. It has been nearly 10 years since you first joined our family as our first adopted children! (It will be 10 years come March of next year; you came to us on March 11, 1993. You were both just over 3 months of age then.)
It seems like only yesterday when we first met you at the airport. First Johnny, then a week later, you, Ronee'. When your daddy and myself first saw Johnny's peach fuzz white hair, huge, blue eyes, and pink dimply face and then your bright black eyes, fuzzy black hair on your perfectly shaped little head, little button nose, and your rosebud mouth, of course, we both cried with happiness. It was as though God brought you both to us, to help ease the burden and pain somewhat, the burden and pain of losing our three biological children..the brothers and sister you never got to meet. As you know, their names were L'Acadia, Pierre, and Aron Jakob. If they were still living today, they would be your older brothers and sister.
You were instantly loved and came into our hearts the moment we saw you. You were the prettiest little things we had ever seen; and it broke my heart to think that both of you never got to meet your mother or father. And to think that a parent could abandon their sick newborn is something that we still can't even begin to fathom even after all these years later. But you are now our children, Johnny and Ronee', and our love for you both only grows deeper as the years go by.
Now look at you. You are both nearly ten years of age, but these ten years have been full of much joy (and yes, some heartbreak and tragedy), and you have far exceeded the expectations pinned on you by your doctors. You have overcome so much sickness and other health problems in your young lives, and yet you emerge from each crisis stronger and even more determined than ever to go on, even in the worst of times. Your courage and strength is something that we greatly admire, and we feel so blessed that God gave you to us to be a part of our International Family!
Just because you have so many in the way of brothers and sisters doesn't mean that we love you any less. In fact, we love EACH and EVERY one of the children EQUALLY and UNCONDITIONALLY. In this family, there are NO FAVORITES. Each one of you is as just as important as the other, and we love each and every one of you the same. I hope you will always remember that, Johnny and Ronee'.
I hope you will always remember the good times we've shared together. Yes, there have been much bad times in your lives, but so far the good has outweighed the bad 10 times over, and you continue to blossom and grow before our very eyes. Now you are both in the 4th grade, and you are so bright and do so well in school. We are so proud of what all you have already accomplished in your young lives, and you have blessed others with your talents and your courage. You have such a wonderful testimony from the Lord, and you have brought many people to the Lord with your testimony and grace. You two are shining examples of His Love and Grace, and you two are Living Little Miracles. You are my shining pride and joy, and you have blessed me, your mother, so abundantly!
Thank you for being my children. I love you both so much; and I cry when I think of how much Jesus has blessed us by bringing you to us. You are my shining pride, and I hope Jesus blesses you both with all He has to offer! You two deserve all the blessings He can give you!
