Dear All~
We are in Denver Bronco Territory (GO, Broncos!!). We got here earlier today; we are now at our motel. M'Buti is at the front desk, registering us in; meanwhile, the kidlets and myself are in the van, waiting for her. We just arrived.
Ah, good. I see M'buti waving her crutch at me. Got our rooms. So I'll be back in a second, after I get us all settled; hang on ....
Okay. We are in our rooms. It is now 2:16 p.m. Took us an hour, but we have arrived and are settled in. The kids have already gone off, looking for the Internet station or to see if there is a game room or a swimming pool close by. M'buti tried to tell them to stay, but they already ran off, before she could even get a word out. Oh, good, I hear Eshe' and Jubaki. When they come barging in the room, I tell them to round up their remaining brothers and tell them that they have an hour, or else I'll come looking for them, and so will Mamma.
It is very cold here. I just checked the temp on the local weather station; it is 19 degrees but clear. There are storm warnings to the west; we could get clobbered later on or tonight, so we may have to spend an extra day (or two) in Denver before continuing on to Alaska. I told M'buti the temp, and I swear, I saw her lips turn blue and her blood turn to ice. She has never handled cold weather all that well. LOL
Last night, we were in Amarillo, Texas. It was very interesting, to say the least: extremely treacherous driving conditions. The fastest we traveled was maybe 30 to 40 miles an hour; there were cars and trucks spun out wherever we looked. Poor M'buti had her hands covered over her face; she was scared, but the kids were loving it. "Spin out, Daddy, spin out!" they kept saying (much to our annoyance). I told them to hush.
We spent the night in a roach motel; it was very dirty. We left at 5:00 this morning. We stopped to get something to eat and then at a washeteria, where we we washed a couple loads of clothes and cleaned up. The motel here is much cleaner (thank God!).
I don't think M'buti is very happy with me, but she wants me to be happy. I don't think she's thrilled about moving to Alaska; she's already having second thoughts. I told her if it didn't work out within six months, we'd head back to warmer climates. The kids are very excited. They want to see more snow and to hug a polar bear (well, Eshe' does anyway). I tnink we can do the first thing; I'm not so sure about the second. LOL Silly girl!
Boy, they're really whupping it up in the halls: not the kids, but Broncos fans. They're getting ready to watch the Super Bowl. As I said earlier, I'm pulling for the Denver Broncos. M'buti could care less; she hates football. She hates all sports. LOL The boys are pulling for Denver too; Eshe' is the lone standout: she wants Seattle. LOL
Well, gonna go get the kids and order a pizza or two. With our army, we need the extra pizzas; think they'll like that! :) M'buti is gonna burrow underneath the covers, cover her head with the pillows, and try her best to drown out the game (and the yells). Will check back in a few days; hopefully we'll be on the move again; if not, oh, well ... that's the breaks ... would rather be safe than sorry, you know? God bless!
~Roberto and family. :)
