I wish we had never even come to camp.

Not that I didn't want to come in the first place (I DID), but according to our camp director and our counselors, they are telling us to stay inside because there are several escaped convicts who broke out from a local prison not too far from here, and they are hiding out in this campground.

Local law officials are saying they are armed and dangerous.

Lovely.

Now what are we going to do for a whole week while police comb the area as they search for the escapees??  Sit around our bunks and twiddle our thumbs?  Or text each other, trying to make conversation??

I don't THINK so!!  I came to camp to have fun, and so I am NOT going to stay inside, especially with the sun shining the way it is!  It's just INVITING me to go to the lake and take a dip!

This having to stay inside SUCKS big time!!

This is Margareta.  I am worried about my friend, Hayleigh.  She had gone swimming several hours back, and she hasn't returned.  I hope that the creeps hiding out in the campground haven't gotten to her.  Some of the counselors are out, looking for her, and they have alerted local officials; I am sure they are helping them look for her, too.

The note above was written by Hayleigh prior to her leaving.  She seemed determined to have fun, even after being told to stay indoors, on account of the convicts who escaped from the local prison, which is not too far from here.  I just hope nothing happens to her; I'd feel horrible if it did!

I don't know why they had to put a prison so close to a campground.  I'd say it was totally stupid 'cause if any prisoners escaped and camp was going on, there'd be a lot of lives endangered, such as is the case right now as I write.  I hate having to stay indoors and seeing the sun shining; but we have to stay indoors.  Camp director's orders.  I guess I can understand because if we go out, we could get accosted or abducted (or worse) by the thugs!!  

Some camp adventure this is turning out to be .... this is one kind of adventure I would rather NOT be having!  I'd rather be swimming or doing archery, arts and crafts, or partaking in a talent show, not hiding out from some creepy-minded people who busted out of jail, only to cause more mischief and mayhem!

I just hope that Hayleigh is found soon, safe and sound!
