My name is Deena Kay Novicek.  I live in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio ("Snow Belt Country"), with my five children, who range in age from a year to 15.  This is my story; actually, it's more about our son, Brayden Dale, who is three years old.

Brayden has special needs.  He was born with a congentital heart defect that required surgery when he was a few months old and again last year.  Well, last year's surgery didn't go well.  He suffered complications; he was left brain damaged.  Because of a doctor's negligence, my son can no longer walk or talk and needs care 24 hours a day.  He has to be fed by a tube in his belly (or in his nose).

Angry?  You bet I am angry! Because of a stupid medical error, my once vibrant, happy, talkative, active son is now caught in a body that no longer works and he will never know what it will be like to go out for Little League, go to school, go on his first date, or even drive a car, let alone, get married and have a family of his own!

I am currently in the process of suing the doctor who ripped my life apart, and left my son a shell of his former self.  Don't know how it will end up, but I am more than ready for this nightmare to be over!!

I'm just glad I have my older children (Rebecca, 15, Serina, 13, and 11 year old Dashleigh) to help; otherwise, I'd be going out of my mind!  This is not the life I wanted for our second youngest child, let alone, for the rest of us!  Because of the weather (we've had a hard, snowy winter; it's snowing now as I write this), the kids have missed more school than necessary (which means they'll only have to make it up in the spring, before school lets out; they'll have to go later than planned), and we haven't been able to get out because we live on a hill, and it's hard as hell to get out without risking our lives.  It's also slippery than all get out, and having a kid in a wheelchair is only making it worse.  Wheelchairs were not made for snow!!

Just keep me (and my son) in your prayer; no, pray for ALL of us, and pray that their loser dad walks back into our lives because we really could use his help and support!  Thanks!
