A little Native girl shares her story.

 Hello!

My name is Ada Grace Little-Bear Paw; I am nine years old and live with my family in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  I am Cheyenne Indian.  I am in the fourth grade.

I have my parents and my grandparents.  I am an only child.  No brothers or sisters for me.

For the past two years I have been badly bullied.  I have no friends.  It's because I am very fat (I weigh over 160 pounds, even though I am only nine), I wear glasses, and talk funny.  I have a problem with my speech; I see a speech lady to help me try to talk better.  Most days I come home from school crying; I hate school and I wish I didn't have to go.

I have been trying to talk to Mother and Father about letting me get homeschooled, but they say nothing doing.  Father and Mother both work three jobs in order to try to keep up with the bills.  So I have to get on that long yellow school bus in the morning and face yet another day of kids taunting me until I end up in the nurse's office 'cause my stomach is so upset and I can't eat without wanting to throw up.

Gym class is the worst.  The kids see me in my shorts and tee shirt and right away the taunts start flying.  "You're fat." "You're ugly." "You're a retarded baby."  "Go to nursery school; that's where you belong 'cause you can't talk right." "Get out of my sight; you're nothing but a big, disgusting whale."  I hear all of this and more each and every day.

It's no wonder I hate school so much.

I wish we could move to a different town so I didn't have to face those bad kids!

When I grow up I want to be a singer, but I don't like singing in front of people 'cause of my funny speech and 'cause I'm scared they'll start laughing at me or making fun about my weight or my wearing glasses.  Plus I'm shy.  Very much so.

Well, I hate to go, but I have homework to finish up.  I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Ada Little-Bear Paw signing off!

~Ada.  :(

Kids can be cruel ... heartbreaking story, Karen. Far too many go through this. You capture Ada's pain and sadness perfectly. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Indians were here first! Move over folks make room for the real Americans! Too bad some kids are so dumb and blind.

Praying for a BETTER USA.
