It's been a few days since I last wrote.
As you know, my father suffered a massive heart attack two days ago. Up until that point, he had been healthy and happy; now he lies in a hospital bed, in Intensive Care. He's doing a little better, according to the doctors and nurses tending to him, but Dad faces a long recovery period.
I have asked my boss to see if I could take a few days off of work, until I know that my father is going to be okay. Surprisingly enough, they were more than happy to oblige. So now I'm spending as much time here at the hospital, with Dad, while Trina, my wife, runs things at home. I call her on a continual basis, to keep her up to date regarding Dad's condition; that way she's informed and knows what is going on.
I haven't been home since this happened. I am beyond exhausted. I'm ready to plant my own body on one of those hospital beds and SLEEP, but since I can't do that, I do my sleeping on one of the couches in the ICU waiting room (what sleep I CAN get, that is).
I've gotten some sleep, but not nearly enough because there are just too many distractions. If it isn't the pager going off, people talking, coughing, or laughing incessently, or people rolling carts, machines, or what have you, there's always something going on. Worst of all is when a "Code Blue", or breathing (or heart) emergency where the person's life is in danger, goes off, then you hear and see nurses and doctors running into the ICU area to try to save the life of the patient who happens to be in trouble.
Thank God up to this point it hasn't been my father. I pray it doesn't happen to him; I pray he battles back from his heart attack. To see this happen to him scared the living hell out of me; I never want to see or witness something like this ever again.
Well, I'm going to visit Dad; visiting hours are just about to begin in a few minutes; I can see Dad for fifteen minutes, max. They keep the visiting hours short so the patients in ICU can get rest, which is what they need, in order to get better. I will write in here again in a few days with another update. Keep those prayers coming; I think that's what is keeping Dad going! They are very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
