I am trying to hold on for dear life, but it feels like I'm sinking fast ....
It's so hard seeing my precious daughter, Sarah Lauren, lying there in bed, unmoving, oblivious to what is happening to her or what is going on around her. Because of some person's irresponsible actions, my beautiful 13-year-old is fighting for her life in some hospital instead of enjoying the last few weeks of school with her friends.
All this happened last week; doctors aren't very hopeful about her outcome. They say she has irreversable brain damage and is now in a coma; they don't know if she will ever wake up and if she does, if she will be okay. They say she will be severely and permanently disabled.
I am beyond exhausted and trying to deal with the shock of this situation. I have been at Sarah's side for the past week; I haven't had more than a few hours of sleep each night. I have been afraid to leave her, for fear something else will happen. Just last night she coded (stopped breathing and her heart stopped beating as well); they got her back in a few minutes, but it still scared the living hell out of me. I truly thought they were going to lose her, but thank God, thank GOD they got her back. Ever since, my nerves have been on heightened alert and I can't seem to stop shaking.
I don't know what the future holds for Sarah, but as her mother, I'm going to make darn sure that she recovers and gets her life back. I don't know if she will be as she was, but I will do everything possible to help her and to give her a life where she can be happy and comfortable.
If there's one thing I have a lot of, it's faith. I also have the love of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Chrst. I know He's with me, even in this, and will never leave or forsake me (OR Sarah). I just hope Sarah knows that Jesus is with her or that He's with her, holding her hand and ministering to her, even as she sleeps.
Have I cried? Yes. Plenty of times. I am surprised I have any tears left. But as I said, nothing can change what's happened. I only hope that the person responsible for my daughter's state knows what he's done and that he will come forward to apologize to us, her family.
*To be continued.*
