Fear, confusion, panic, depression, loss and tears flood into your soul.  What are you going to do? Who can I tell? Is abortion the right decision for me? If not, how on earth will I be able to carry my unborn to term? The shock of my emotions flooding in with questions about real life seems to overwhelm me. Where can I go to get the info I need to make this very difficult decision? No matter what I choose, my life is changing and I will never be able to just go back as though this never happened. 

    It was with great compassion and sensitivity that I wrote Lives Interrupted: The Unplanned Pregnancy Dilemma. The many women I had the opportunity to interview were all hurting in some way. Even when the decision to have an abortion was made quickly, the aftermath was emotionally painful. Either keeping their baby or giving it up for adoption brought about a deep sense of loss. The women who chose abortion after a rape were in anguish and many had no words to express their pain. Mothers who had abortions because of a medical anomaly in the fetus suffered as greatly. The stories themselves as told by the mothers are a better witness to the difficult and perilous journey they had to face.

     It is rare for a book or an agency to present the pros and cons for both abortion and carrying the unborn to term. Lives Interrupted can provide education, interviews with professionals and personal stories from both sides of the dilemma. While the subject is difficult to face, the book is presented in an easy reading format. It is the author’s hope that the reader, after completion of reading, will have a clearer understanding of what is involved and what is the best decision for her.
