Let's make it "open season" on all politicians. After all, they've made it open season on us.

A Sign of the Times

With each passing day those in Congress who call themselves Republicans are showing the world that they are antiestablishmentarian nimcombubbleheads. In lay terms, they’re nuts.

Here is their latest sign of a collective degenerative brain disorder. By a vote of 229-191 House Republicans just passed a bill (H.R. 1422) forbidding academic and other independent scientists from advising the EPA on their own research. That’s right. If this bill should become law, all independent scientists would not be allowed to advise the EPA about the results of their research because…their findings might clash with the findings of those “experts” hired by industry to advise them about the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Well, that makes sense. When you’ve already paid for the truth, who needs scientists?

One of the leaders in this cave man mentality is Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas). Burgess is a medical doctor, at least that is what the Crackerjacks people tell us. He is certified in Texas to treat toe jam, warts, and to perform hemorrhoid transplants on identical twins. That’s his picture above. Nice looking fellow, eh? He is reported to have the highest IQ in Pango Pango, Texas (pop. 1).

This same band of truth seekers has a list of other bills waiting in the wings for passage. Among them are:

• A voting bill to add as many votes as necessary to assure a Republican win any where, any time.

• A creative thinking bill that bans the scientific method from being taught any where, any time.

• An energy bill that forbids the temperature from falling below 60 degrees F.

• An education bill that makes Republicans the smartest group in the universe.

• A theological bill that grants Republicans free passage to heaven, and taxes Democrats $50,000 each for the privilege of praying.

• A morals bill that allows Republicans to rape, pillage, and plunder without the consent of those on the receiving end. An amendment is pending that compels those afflicted to enjoy the carnage.

• A military bill that keeps the U.S. in a perpetual state of war, to be fought and paid for by poor Democrats only.

• An employment bill that would give all Olympic Medals, Oscars, Tony Awards and Nobel Prizes to Republican office holders who can walk and eat buffalo chips at the same time.

I thought you were writing an article in the Stories section, my pet peeve. But after reading with a chuckle or two, I realize that this is fine satire of the state of affairs we are in.

...believe in equality...liberty and love...and the knowledge
is a power...As you've pointed out in your story...something
has to be done...When you country's in trouble...the world
is watching...both...the "fat cat" and the "public-spirited" philanthropist...
Just "a sigh of the times"...
Thank you, Edward for sharing your thoughts provoking writing.

The Wholly Book of Genesis by Jay Dubya

The Wholly Book of Genesis is a humorous satire on the first book of the Old Testament where the Story of Creation, the building of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah and the families of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are thoroughly spoofed and broadsided.
