Recipe:  American Dream Cake

Spread six dozen acres

of lush rolling farmland.
Scoop several crystal-clear ponds,
brimming with smallmouth bass,
where deer and turkey quench their thirst.
Sprinkle generously with flowering trees,
preferably redbuds and pink and white dogwoods.
Pepper with holly and magnolia trees to taste.
Cover the land evenly with Kentucky bluegrass.

Bake above ingredients at seasonal temperatures.
Dollop one large hill

into the center of the green acreage,
overlooking fifty miles of scenic views.
Smooth an acre and a half at the summit.
Lace with one long winding country road
to your palace home at the top of the hill.
Savor the dream cake for a lifetime

with the one you love.
