Really, be careful what you wish for.

The Bloody Rook

Kevin stretched out along the beach blanket before sitting up to watch Lynn dance. She was barefoot and as she twirled the white sand would kick up around her ankles and between her toes. Kevin was hypnotized by her beauty and noticed every detail that was her. She wore a long, blue, mock grass skirt and one of Kevin’s white dress shirts that she had  tied at her waist.

“ Kevin, in this whole world what would you wish for?” Lynn asked this as she continued to dance and with an impish grin.

“ That’s an easy one-you.” Kevin stretched his hand out inviting Lynn back to the blanket. She ignored this and turned her back facing the ocean while still swaying to music only she heard.

“ No, not me. You have me. I mean something fun and unattainable. Like something you dreamed about as a kid.” She turned again and watched Kevin as he smiled trying to think of something clever.

“ Well, I guess it would be to be a cowboy or a pirate. Since we're on the ocean I’ll pick pirate.”

“ Mmmm”, Lynn licked her lips.” Sexy. The swashbuckling Kevin. Captain of the ship of course.”

“ Of course. And you as my first mate.”

“ Don’t count on that good sir. By the look of your crew and the three British war ships coming I think I’ll stick to being just a plain island girl.”

Kevin started to laugh at this and then noticed the landscape of the beach dotted with a motley bunch of men, each with swords, pistols and knives.Three were running toward him screaming, “ Captain, British war ships. We have to get back to the Bloody Rook.”

Kevin looked down at himself and saw he was dressed much like ‘his crew’. “ The Bloody Rook?”

“ Our ship Captain. Hurry we have to board now.”

Kevin looked for Lynn who was nowhere in sight. Reluctantly he followed the other pirates to the row boat that would take them to their ship. As the three British ships began to fire their cannons Kevin knew the Bloody Rook was about to earn her name.
