Since this weekend is the 46th anniversary of Woodstock, I hoped everybody might like this short story that I remembered about my visit there...
I have a short story (?) about Woodstock that I think you might find maybe funny or at least interesting...
I didn't eat for like all three days & sometime in all that this happened...
A guy was sitting next to me with a BIG can of baked beans or like them & I asked him for a couple spoonfulls & he said NO & I said that we were all here to have fun, & hippies shared eveything while there (as someone had given me some clothes to wear after losing mine; another story). Anyway, the guy would not give the can up...then the announcement came over the loud speaker system about the brown acid and this guy all of sudden got sick, set the can down and ran towards the medical tent...thats definitely Karma, I got the
can and a bunch of us finished it...LOL
i ENJOYED THE Story. I remember Woodstock! I was living in Vt and they showed lots and lots of people who where there on TV. It was the ultimate event, but I was sure glad to be in my own home!....M
I hope one day you will revisit this memory of Woodstock and develop your "short story" into a longer short story with all of its vivid details, including what you refer to as "another story." This story is worth its beans!
That certainly was a short story… Very short. You could've easily enhanced the story by adding the story of how you lost your clothes and got free replacements.
I'm sorry that I missed it. I traveled light in those days without water or food, too. Concessions were usually a ripoff, and I don't recall ever Bogarting anything from anyone. Kids those days, most who grew up sucking on the nipple of their parents, expected a free ride from good people and mostly, got it. All those people offering free "highs" were usually drug dealers trying to get the gullible hooked on whatever they were selling.
I'm sure you found the beans like food from heaven after not eating so long. I just learned recently that you could've gone 21 days before starvation would finally get you. I understand that it rained, so that you probably got water from rain water if nothing else, so you didn't get dehydrated to the point of dying after 3 days.
That was one of the best shows ever. Richie Havens and Crosby, Stills, and Nash were standouts along with other notables too numerous to mention.
