Q. How many wealthy people envy Oprah Winfrey? Ans: All of them.
And the reason? Everything she touches turns to gold. Oprah’s net worth passed $1 billion back in 2007. Today she’s worth $3 billion. My free calculator just told me that is a compound annual growth rate of 13.36 percent.
She recently added Weight Watchers to her investment holdings. And she took a position on their board of directors. The value of her stock in WW jumped about $50 million. Ho hum. So what’s new? She’s 61, so she still has a chance to catch Warren Buffett or Bill Gates.
You know what happens when she blesses a book, don’t you? It instantly shoots to the top of the best seller list, and it virtually guaranties a million dollars or more to the author. Oh, in case you’re thinking of putting her seal of approval on your next book cover, I would advise against that move. She could put you in the poor house for life for trampling on her success imagery.
What’s her secret to success? In her words it all comes down to three guiding principles:
1. The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.
2. Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.
3. The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.
Disappointed? Well, she has always said “It’s not about the money.”
Oprah always has had rapport with people, everyone she touches. That has allowed her to rocket to fame. And it doesn't hurt to have a long-running television show, something that makes ordinary people superstars.
One thing you didn't say was ambition and risk-taking. No one seems to move forward without having the desire to do so and taking risks required to move to the next level of accomplishment. I believed for Oprah it's all about overcoming her early circumstances.
Another great article with wonderful advice for everyone.
