My wife, Louisiana, and myself (William, known as "Bill") have made out our list of wishes or hopes for the coming year. Yes, it is that time of year again, when one year ends, and a new year starts, with hopes, dreams, and promises anew.
This is our yearly list of what we would like to see happen for the New Year.
~*~*~*What We Would Like To See Happen in 2003*~*~*~
1.) World peace and an end to terrorism all over this world, and those who harbor or practice terrorist activities be found, caught, and brought to swift justice.
2.) For God to be brought back into our homes and schools, and for prayer to be reinstituted into our schools and public places.
3.) For people to try to learn to get along and accept each other's differences.
4.) For people to learn to accept my children despite their outward "imperfections" or "physical differences" that they may have, and learn that they are just like any other children.
5.) To continue working, and to be able to pay our bills without worry or fear of not being able to make the payments on time.
6.) For a cure of diseases like AIDS, cancer, diabetes, all neuromuscular diseases (of which my 10-year-old son, Johnathon, happens to suffer from; he has Duchenne's muscular dystrophy, and he isn't expected to live beyond the age of 12 or 13), arthritis (especially in children), or multiple sclerosis, as well as asthma or heart disease.
7.) To continue to learn and grow as a father to my children, and to grow in my Christian walk with the Lord; and to continue to love and respect my wife, Louisiana.
8.) To be able to travel more than I am able to (thanks to bills or medical problems that tend to crop up unexpectedly, especially among my sicklier children), or go on a cruise with my wife and just get away from the children, even if it is for a weekend or a week!
9.) To be closer than ever to my brothers, especially my brother, Jimmy (he is mentally and physically disabled), and to have more compassion for him. Also my brother, Wayne, who is severely disabled due to a stroke and requires much in the way of extra medical care (he is now in a nursing home, recovering from pneumonia). I pray that God eases their suffering somewhat and that He gives their loved ones Grace and a sense of peace and comfort in the midst of chaos and understanding the circumstances behind their sufferings.
10.) And finally, to be a good Christian witness and bring others to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Louisiana:
Okay. Now that my husband, Bill, has had his say, it is now MY turn!
1.) For peace and harmony to return to our land, and the fear of terrorism or war be erased from all nations around our world.
2.) For God and prayer to be restored, and discipline and order be allowed to return to our homes and schools; and for our young people to learn about respecting their elders or law officials.
3.) That crime be solved, and drug dealers or other lawbreakers be caught and severely punished for their crimes.
4.) That people learn to get along DESPITE our differences in racial backgrounds, ethnicity, religion, or habits.
5.) That people learn to accept the beauty that is inside each of our children and for them to see them for what they are INSIDE, not for what they are outside!
6.) To be able to continue performing my job to the best of my ability despite being physically disabled myself.
7.) An end to ALL diseases, especially ones like AIDS, cancer, heart disease, asthma, arthritis, and neuromuscular diseases.
8.) To continue to grow in my Christian walk and to continue being a good mother to our children.
9.) To continue to have a good relationship with my husband and also my father and step-mother.
and finally, to continue to have the money to be able to pay our bills.
