 Memories are Made of This

I drink two cups of coffee every day to jolt my brain cells into action.  I’m pretty sure they work because, well, actually I can’t remember why.  But not to fear, I take an anti-memory loss pill every day to take over when the sagging effects of caffeine put a drain on my brain memory seekers.  Between the two of them something has got to give.

I am looking at an ointment dispenser that I haven’t a clue about.  But after retrieving my reading glasses and a hand-held magnifier (with a small insert that doubles the total magnifying power), I forgot what I was looking for after trying for the fourth or fifth time to get things into focus.  So that damned cream will just have to lay there along with the other stuff of broken dreams.

There’s a second little tube that I can definitely remember why it’s there.  It’s a wrinkle eraser.  I just write the word “wrinkle” across my forehead with shoe polish and this stuff erases it every time.  It’s nice to know that something works in this age of wunder creams.  I try not to spell wrinkle backwards lest others think I’ve wondered off into the funny pastures when I forget to clear my forehead of wrinkles.

But my biggest crutch of all never lets me down.  It’s the Internet plus Google search.  All I have to do is type a word or phrase into my browser and the far reaches of the Internet take me to places where my brain fears to tread.  Of course, I have to use my Spell Check and my Thesaurus first, otherwise what’s the point?  And that question, alone, clears up a lot of mysteries.

My inbox just alerted me to the fact that my two-for-one bottles of memory rejuvenator pills are in the mail.  And shipping costs were free.  Free shipping is usually a sure sign that the pills are effective.  Maybe I had better use my logic checker to see if that is a good conclusion to make about costs and benefits.

Well, that’s it for today.  If it weren’t for good crisp memories, what would life be like?  Humm.  That’s a good question for today’s Google search.

P.S. Wouldn’t you know it?  Just as I was putting the finishing touches on this advisory, my phone rang with a recorded message reminding me of a medical appointment.  But now I forget who it was with…

Are those your abs? Do you remember where you got them?

"Logic checker," now that's the next greatest idea to Google. Let's start an app for that, if I can remember how to do an app, whatever that is. What was my point? Oh, if everyone could check their logic, your ideas would fly like a falcon and all the world's economic problems would be over and we could "logically" solve the real ones like finding Bigfoot.

Some things are meant to be forgotten. As long as you can live in the moment, it's all good.

Is that why Google has just been outed as the world's biggest lobbyist, to keep everybody's memory in sync? How's that working for us? Glad that you can laugh about your own memory - sounds healthy to me.
