Preparing to journey along uncharted territory in the year ahead ...
Before Thanksgiving gave way to Black Friday, I decked the halls at my place with Christmas decorations. Just as efficiently, I packed the holiday away before the last round of fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la. Fast away the old year passes, especially when rushed headlong into the New Year.

It’s how I roll! I’ve never been one to mollycoddle the holiday season past its prime, eager to journey along uncharted territory.

This year’s uncharted territory entails embarking on my first stretch of library signings throughout the month of January, while mindful of New England’s potential for stormy weather. Nevertheless, procuring book signings is a coup for an Indie author infiltrating sacred ground primarily trodden by those traditionally published. Having received one unsolicited invitation encouraged me to make inquiries in other local communities.

The daily toils and struggles of an Indie author to attain recognition are demanding and time consuming. Hence, my greatest challenge in transitioning from this year to next is placing an emphasis on my health and well-being by renewing my commitment to exercise regularly. That mentioned, I’ll also go along with striving to achieve four of the Top Five New Year’s Resolutions based on a 2016 survey of 5,000 people as reported on a recent segment of ABC’s “Good Morning America”: http://tinyurl.com/jnetfnc

Save more, spend less.
Spend more time with family and friends.
Lead a healthier lifestyle.
Live life to the fullest.

For me, the transition is all about prioritizing what is important, and staying on the straight and narrow to achieve it without burning a candle at both ends.

Good luck with your book signings. I haven't explored that venue yet. One day I must step out from behind my computer and meet potential readers.

Reads like a very good plan. When I dropped my books off at a nearby library recently, they were delighted. Maybe I should try to get some library book signings.

All the best in your endeavors to promote your brand and your books in the coming year.

Yes, we writers need to get more exercise! That's a resolution of mine as well. I envy you your library signings, but not the travel. Do the libraries let you sell hardcopy books? Mine does not allow any selling, but I can do "writers workshops" and talk about my books in the process, hoping for online sales since the library is wifi connected and everyone has a device.

Best of luck to you in your book signings, Eva! If you are anywhere near as eloquent speaking as you are in your writing, then I'm sure you'll do superbly. Though I've never done one, seems to me that having fun should be a priority at book signings. Good luck with your physical training as well. I've always geared up on training as I set out on a new adventure, so I suppose I should take a cue from you in that regard. Would you keep us posted on both accounts? Scott

I admire your stamina and stick-to-it-ness regarding PR of the Indie Author. Good luck with your efforts. The exercise routine is a must. At 72, I have always kept up an strict exercise routine since my mid-twenties when I gave up smoking and started to gain weight. I am still running, jumping rope, playing tennis and squash, and do the gym machines (for muscle tone) such that they are nowadays. Still, no one can beat me at stamina. I still do 8 ks in the heat of Doha (at night of course). If people wonder about my health, they can look to my exercise routine. John
