Dennis Western is well known in Waycross, Georgia. His parents were great people and, as he had, had been born in Waycross, Georgia. They never left, even for a vacation. They Liked the town! His brother Sal was sixteen now. Theodore and Margaret Western loved God, each other, their sons,  and Waycross, Georgia! 

   Dennis sighed. He and Sal had rooms upstairs. Only a huge bath, and a linen closet resided upstairs with them. They took their dirty bedding down every Wednesday and Saturday. Clothes went down on mondays. No one came up but he and Sal.

  As usual, Dennis was staring out his window looking west. Want much east of Waycross! It seemed all of the world lay west. Every day since he was ten he'd stood looking west. Nearly eighteen now he'd saved his money eight years so he could go west. Christmas and birthdays they got one gift and cash. Dad taught them to invest. Dennis invested it all and all he'd worked for. Sal invested some and spent some. An older cousin had helped Dennis open an account at a bank when he was ten. Now he had a nice amount of money ready to start his life.

   Two years ago he'd gone to a bank with nationwide banks. He bought an old car and fixed it up like new. Two old suitcases had been filled and put in the trunk. He'd leave the day after his birthday, early so no one would see. No one believed there was a life outside of Waycross, Georgia. No one but Dennis Western.
