Chapter XVI The Necking Phase

During this repartee, there was no eye contact and no touching. We looked at the new book, at the project, or my latest brick and stone reclamation garden. I never dared look directly into those soft intelligent brown eyes of his; the second I did I was lost. I could not trust my own eyes fearing upon contact they would shamefully attempt to make love with his. Eventually, at some point, he’d touch me. Fire. He’d touch me and our lips would touch, too, and the chasm of passion would swallow us both. Mankind’s inborn and perpetual thirst for heaven would carry us away as swiftly as birds in flight. Not another word would be uttered for hours. Instead, our mouths communicated a deep silent primal language of passion. I never felt it was lust, Ralph never tore at my clothes, we never undressed, we never left the couch. These kisses would go on and on as if we’d submerged into a time-warped world, like being underwater or in utter darkness where time doesn’t exist and the only sounds you hear are your own breathing and his, your two hearts beating, and your inexhaustible need for this communication to go on. All my worldly cares of kids, laundry, PTA, jobs, homework, soccer games, and basketball practice would disappear. It would get very late and Ralph would go home. And it might be three or four months before I would hear from him again.
My second book is about a boy who has Asperger's Syndrome and is bullied to the point to where he shoots up his school. I have divided the excerpts from it into three parts: Before, during and after the shooting.
