$ allows couples to resolve some of their own interpersonal issues in an imaginary domain outside of their own well-delineated “playground” that has the potential for fun, humor and non-threatening confrontation.
$ challenges the argument in favor polygamy/polyandry by allowing such photo-judgement activities to occur on the imaginative level, while at the same time not necessarily trying to cling to those older, prudish, boring pro-monogamy arguments. Thus, an indirect argument in favor of monogamy but without putting undue or excessive emphasis on that particular approach to social life – really, just a confirmation of the latter that’s implicit.
$ of course, the couple that plays this game can make their projections as mundane and as crude as they prefer, but there is also perhaps the slightly more intellectual appeal of using the game as a way to explore states of empathy/antipathy, so as to gain a better awareness of themselves and each other.
