my aunt, Clare, told me this story about my her son's miracle healing.
Little Jimmy’s Miracle
My Aunt Clare and her husband James Price lived in Ocilla, Georgia with their two little boys, Jimmy and Michael. The year was about 1954.
Jimmy was 4 years old. One morning Jimmy woke up complaining with pain in his leg. As the days went by, the pain worsened and his leg became paralyzed. He could not walk on it. Clare and James got very scared and decided to take him to Waycross, Georgia, which had a hospital with an emergency room. This was during the time of the polio epidemic in the U.S. The Polio Vaccine discovered by Jonas Salk had just been announced, but the vaccine was not available yet. The doctor in Ocilla was sure it was probably polio. But they would find out when they reached the hospital in Waycross.
It was on a Sunday. James carried little Jimmy out to the car, because he could not walk. On the way to Waycross, they stopped by James’ parents home to see the grandparents. The whole family had just returned from church, a Pentecostal Holiness church nearby. As usually, Mr. and Mrs. Price had invited the preacher and many members of the congregation for Sunday dinner.
While the adults talked, his daddy set little Jimmy on the bed of a pick-up truck, while all the other children ran and played. Jimmy looked longingly at the kids, unable to walk or run, his leg in pain and paralyzed.
The preacher suggested they all pray for Jimmy before they left for the hospital. He took the oil and anointed his head, as was the custom in their church. The preacher and several people laid their hands on Little Jimmy and prayed for him. They all decided God could heal little Jimmy. After prayer, Jimmy still could not walk. His father lifted him up and put him in the car, and they left Ocilla and continued on their way to the hospital in Waycross.
Arriving in the emergency room, his father carried him in his arms and they checked in and sit down to wait for the doctor to call them. They sat Jimmy in a chair next to his mother. As they sat there waiting, little Jimmy looked over and saw something shining on the floor. It was a penny! He jumped down from the chair and ran over to pick it up. His parents looked on in amazement.
They yelled, “Look, he’s walking. He’s running! Jimmy, you can walk!” Little Jimmy looked down at his leg in amazement, too. His leg didn’t even hurt. He was all well and continued to run and play in the waiting room.
Later the doctor checked him out and found nothing wrong with the little boy. They went back to Ocilla, knowing God had done a miracle in their little boy!
