Unexpected Visitors

"THERE ARE NO DOGS HERE,
BEWARE OF ALIENS!"

So, says the sign at the entrance of this gated large home.

How's that for a bluff? Thought Joe, a longtime habitual thief, and burglar, as he sawed the wrought iron gate. The job was almost done. Before you know it, he would be inside the house, taking and owning anything of value. Joe made his living selling hot items to pawnbrokers who were as greedy as he was. He and his partners in crime made some good money with his hot items.

Now an opening has been cut out of the gate large enough for Joe to squeeze through. Joe stood at the entrance and looked across the large yard at the sprawling large home. Along the side were some large and luscious green trees with colourful blossoms. There were rows and rows of the trees. It made it look as though the large home was situated in front of a small forest and inside the small forest were some tiny houses that were beautifully designed.

Joe suddenly felt as though he had stepped into a small village of tiny houses, with the home being its capital building.

No dogs, eh? He cautiously looked around but was met with silence.

There must be a lot of good stuff in the large home. Joe thought. He secretly congratulated himself on his good fortune and proceeded to walk towards the large home. Wow! There were so many little houses too around here for him to steal! Had he known in advance he would have equipped himself with a much larger loot bag!

He cut the glass to make a hole to unlock the kitchen window and climbed inside the home. There were a lot of valuables. Spectacular paintings hung on the walls, but Joe had made a vow to himself that he would never steal artwork as it is very difficult to dispose of them once the theft goes public. He tip-toed around in the dark, searching the whole house. All the bedroom doors were closed so the occupants must be sleeping. Some doors were left ajar and he peeked inside breathing gently just to find lumps of shapes on the beds.

Joe, being professional, was able to tip-toe through the whole house, inspecting and taking valuable items. His favourite items were the pieces of jewelry from which he or the pawnbrokers would take apart to sell the stones separately on the black market. Large stones could reap a lot of cash to be divided between him and the pawnbroker.

There were so many valuables Joe almost couldn't contain his joy and excitement! He kept going from one room to another to rake in his loot. Finally, he came to the end of a hallway and saw a door. He opened it and found that it leads to a lower level.

This must be the basement, he thought, sometimes rich people keep more valuable stuff in the basement for protection.

His greedy heart forced him to take the first step, then as he proceeded to take a few more steps down the stairs he heard the door close by itself behind him with a loud click. He went back up and tried his best to pry it open but found the door was securely bolted tight on the outside.

Once he made his way down the creaky stairs he was shocked to find that the homeowner had left the light on. That almost never happens.

Okay, perhaps there's another way out - a window or something, Joe reassured himself. He walked down to the bottom of the stairs and looked around.
This is a very odd collection! Joe thought. In this basement were rows and rows of plants - large plants with luscious green leaves. Some are gigantic, as tall as 9 to10 feet from floor to ceiling. Some were so tall that they were bending under the ceiling. The place looked like a little forest.

What an odd place to be growing plants without sunlight! Joe thought.

He walked down the corridors of plants, admiring the luscious greens and the beauty of them all. Some were exotic, out-of-this-world beautiful. Joe had never seen plants such as these. He thought if only he had the means to take one of these plants home with him he definitely would, but how could he? He has yet to find a window where he could squeeze himself out of this place.

Why would anyone want to grow plants without any sunlight or fresh air? It seems rather odd! Joe thought.

He looked around and found there was not a single window in this basement, except for several vents to lead some fresh air in an out of the room.

Perhaps these plants are from out of space? Now, he remembered the sign at the entrance of the gate that read "There are no dogs here, beware of ALIENS!" - so perhaps this is what that sign meant that the plants are from an unidentified planet. Perhaps this house belongs to a scientist who grows alien plants?

Joe suddenly became entertained with the thought of stealing some alien plant seeds from this place.

There must be some alien seeds around this place, he thought. He began to search the basement, overturning every drawer in the room. In his crazed state of mind the means to get out of the place was of lesser importance, but finding those seeds was a priority!

This could be a scientific breakthrough! A sudden climb to fame and fortune for me! He thought. I've got to have those seeds! He continued his search from drawer to drawer...and...then...

There!... In front of him was a door to a large cabinet! Perhaps this is where the scientist keeps the seeds!

The cabinet was locked, but Joe would not let anything stop him. After all, he came with all the break-in tools to break every lock! Remember, he was a professional thief!

At last!... Success!...and as he pried the lock open to peeked inside the cabinet...

"Arrrgggghhhh!!!!!" Joe screamed in horror at the top of his lungs! He hadn't seen anything so horrific in all his years of looting! What is this place? Have I just stepped into a place of horror that belongs to a serial killer?

There...in front of him were jars and jars of human heads and severed human body parts - decapitated heads, hands, fingers, arms...thighs...you name it!

Joe's knees became weak from horror, and he tried his best to stand up and run...but where to? This place was wall to wall solid and there were no windows in sight! He frantically looked around for something that would help him reach the vent that was just underneath the ceiling. There!...not too far away from him were some wooden crates of soil for the planters. He moved the crates over and was now able to reach the vent.

He would need to dismantle it with a screwdriver! As luck would have it, Joe did bring one along. He unscrewed the vent to see if he could somehow climb to the upper floor. Unfortunately, the vent was too small for him to squeeze himself through.

How and where could Joe run to now? The only way out was to walk himself back to those stairs and go back to the door where he came in from.

He proceeded to walk, his legs shaking! He must keep himself very quiet as he did not want to wake up the murderer. His heart was beating rapidly as though it was going to jump out from his throat.

He tried holding on to a plant table to steady himself. Large beads of sweat were pouring down his face. He felt dizzy with fright, but managed to stand up and made a few feeble steps but fell flat on his face to the floor as he tripped over a floor plant in a large planter.

As he fell he banged his head on the planter. Blood began to pour out the side of his head. He sat up and leaned his back against the wall for support, from trying in vain to wipe off the blood that was now gushing down his face.

He took out his wire-cutter, cut and ripped part off his shirt to make a bandana to wrap around his head. The pain from the wound made his head throb. Joe was trapped! He tried to make his way back to the door, but he knew that door was bolted shut from the outside.

"Help! Help!" Joe screamed in agony. He heard no echo. It seemed he was in a sound-proof room. If so, no one could possibly hear him.

As he lay there leaning against the wall, one hand gripping his head, the other steadying himself by grasping the planter, he felt the plant and its leaves begin to circle around his neck! Wait! These plants are alive! They are not plants! They are aliens!!! Now Joe realized what he has gotten himself into.

The branch made its way to wrap tightly around Joe's neck, and then around his whole body, squeezing him until he took his last breath, suffocating him!

The following morning the door to the basement swung open. Two creatures walked down the stairs. They were unlike any human beings in this world. They had large triangular-shaped heads and deep dark large eyes with pupils that foretold the history of these creatures. They have been in the universe for billions of years, even before the formation of the earth. They came from another galaxy and tried to populate themselves in this world. Unfortunately, their species was not used to earth's atmosphere in the beginning so they must create their own. Now, the aliens had further advanced themselves by transporting soil from their own planet to create an atmosphere suitable for the inhabiting earth.

The two alien creatures came down the stairs and were surprised to see Joe, who was lying there, quite dead on the floor!

They held Joe closely and examined his wound carefully. They cut him free from the dangling branches but left some that were wrapped around his neck and body like a cocoon.

The two discussed among themselves in an unknown language to decide what to do with this human species in its cocoon state and decided that it would be a good idea to plant this human seed into the forest since their "greenhouse" in the basement is full already to generate oxygen all through the home.

Now, if you would stand outside of the gate and look over at this large home and its tiny village, you would notice the new addition to the south side of this large sprawling home. There, standing beautifully is a luscious green tree with its beautiful "out-of-this-world" blossoms, and underneath it is another tiny house added to the tiny house village. Tourists who walk by this large home couldn't resist taking beautiful photos in admiration of its beauty. They called this "The Alien House."

Driven by greed, this longtime habitual thief, Joe, had met his demise. - A good lesson to learn from this chapter. We need to focus on what we need to do and not to be sidetracked by greed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It's certainly no stretch of the imagination to realize that human greed is self-destructive.

Hi Jane:

My assumption is that we are all aliens from Mars. We escaped to earth because of the big flood in Mars billions of years ago. That will explain how the pyramids were built. When the Martians first landed here on earth we were all giants. Then humans DNA was altered to a smaller version because the earth is a smaller planet than Mars, and we need to be able to accommodate all Martians. That is why the human race is no longer giants.

If you ever wondered how the ancient people built the monuments without any machinery, how did they manage to move large stones, this is the explanation - we once were giants.
