Once upon a time, there were two twin sisters in heaven named Athena and Alethea. They were both princesses. One day Princess Alethea had angered her Heavenly Father because she no longer wished to weave rainbows for the heavenly sky. Her Father sent Alethea down to earth to become an earth angel and told her that she could not come back to heaven or be an angel unless she has earned back her wings.
When Princess Alethea fell to earth she found there was an Evil Queen Katrina who did not like fallen angels. She trained an army of Tiny Ninjas and ordered them to kill all the fallen angels on earth. Alethea tried to intervene each time to save the other angels on earth but found that with half of her heavenly power taken away by her Heavenly Father she no longer had the magic and power as she once did. Her decreased power now was not enough to fight against the Evil Queen and her troop of Tiny Ninjas. Alethea tried to teach them compassion and kindness but to no avail. The Evil Queen was wicked and possessed an evil soul, and all those whom she had trained had turned into soulless and uncaring creatures. The Tiny Ninjas would kill any fallen angels that would cross her path on earth. The number of the slain earth angels was so alarming, it caught the Heavenly Father's attention. He summoned Princess Athena to keep an eye on this Evil Queen to ensure the safety of her twin sister Alethea.
One day, as Princess Athena was looking down from heaven she overheard the Evil Queen and the Tiny Ninjas hatching a plan to murder her twin sister. The Evil Queen Katrina commanded her troop of Ninjas to hide in the forest where she knew Princess Alethea would be walking through. Little did the Evil Queen know Alethea's twin sister was watching her every move.
When the time arrived, Princess Athena was devastated to learn that Alethea was being attacked by the Tiny Ninjas in the forest. Princess Alethea was putting up a good fight to protect herself, but her magic and power was no match for the Evil Queen's. She knew she must now run for her life!
After seeing Alethea in trouble, Princess Athena hopped on her dragon and began a fierce and determined journey down to earth. The heavenly dragon flew at great speed, sending the nearby dark clouds into a dancing whirl.
Suddenly, the sky became dark and rain began to pour. Loud claps of thunder and bright flashes of lightning! Princess Athena spotted the Evil Queen and the Tiny Ninjas in the forest attacking Alethea, she flew down, commanded her dragon to land beside Alethea's feet so she could help her sister. As the Tiny Ninjas scurried into hiding, some fell behind and were burnt alive by the princess’s dragon as it spat out its furious balls of fire. It was a horrible sight! The Evil Queen tried to run too, but soon found herself alone face to face with Princess Athena and her heavenly dragon. The Evil Queen dropped to her knees and begged for mercy and forgiveness.
"Please, Oh my Heavenly Princess, please don’t send me to hell, please!” begged the Evil Queen.
“But you have an evil soul, you cannot go to heaven! You have killed too many innocent earth angels! You must meet your judgment and pay for your sins!” the heavenly princess replied.
"I will do anything to pay for my sins, but please don't send me to hell! I’m afraid of the devils and the fire in there," the Evil Queen begged once again. Her tears were streaming down from her face now.
"Okay, I will send you to the moon then! There is a tree on the moon, and your chore will be to chop it down. If and when the tree is finally chopped down, then you may come back to earth," said Princess Athena, deciding that this would be a proper judgment.
The Evil Queen thought about this for a second and concluded that it would not be too difficult to chop down a tree so she agreed to receive the punishment.
“Yes, I will receive the punishment. I will go to the moon to chop down the tree," she agreed.
Soon Evil Queen Katrina found herself on the moon, standing in front of a large tree. Next to it was an axe. Katrina quickly picked up the axe and secretly congratulated herself that it was a simple punishment that she had received. She thought she would chop down this tree quickly, and in no time at all, she would be back on earth. She held the axe up with both her hands and began to chop. As the axe hit the tree trunk, it chipped and a piece fell onto the ground, but Katrina noticed that the place where it chipped had immediately renewed itself! She chopped at it again, and before she could blink, there was fresh bark filling in the deep cut she had just made!
Katrina gave the tree another blow, but new bark would immediately grow back to mend the crack! Katrina gave the tree another blow and another. She tried to chop faster and faster, thinking that it might prevent the tree from growing back, but all her blows were in vain. The moon-tree would not be chopped down.
Now, whenever we look up at the moon, we can still see that big moon-tree, and the tiny figure of Katrina beside it, still chopping away. It is not known how long the Evil Queen Katrina had been there in terms of moon years.
As for Princess Alethea, she had finally earned back her wings after she had done some good deeds on earth, so she rode the dragon with her twin sister Athena back to their heavenly Father. Upon arrival, Princess Alethea promised her Father that she would continue to weave rainbows to beautify the heavenly sky.
As for the Evil Queen, rumour has it that she is still on the moon to this day. She has been on this punishment for so long it is said she genuinely feels remorse at what she had done to the earth angels. The heavenly Father granted her a title - the Moon Goddess - on the condition that she must remain on the moon to continue chopping the moon-tree for eternity.
