Before in chapter three we posited at least three ways to organize a society, arguing that the major three have been organizing around Justice, around Freedom, and around Equality.
Which one, or all three, would you choose?

Plato chose Justice. His notion of a just society was that each person in society fulfilled a role where their temperment was naturally satisfied.

There, he argued, were people that were naturally "Warriors," they belonged to the warrior class. There were people who were artisans and belonged to the "craftsman" class or what we might call the business class today. Finally there were people who were thinkers and they should guide society and they belonged to the philosopher group, with one being appointed as the "Philosopher King" who ruled over all.

Well there is some merit in his view, we certainly do have warriors, business people and craftsmen, rather; the philiosopher king is where most of us part company from Plato's view. He inserted the philospher king because the just society could not run without him. He adjudicated what was equity in society and meted out what we today would call "justice." 
So we look at this structure as we see items like freedom and equality  are left out.
How would you mix and match these items?
How would you administer each?
Kings for example administered justice but at the cost of freedom and equality for her or his subjects. That, most could not agree with this arrangment today. To say all three is to ignore that most of history has featured less than three if not one where suppression trampled upon all of them.

Next time we look at the other items most mentioned in history, like religion and its precepts, ethics, morality, natural law, utilitarian concepts, mob rule, well the list is long.
