It is not easy being a part of such a large family, but I have since gotten used to it. Of course, there are times where the kids fight with one another, but that happens in ALL families.
But, as I said earlier, it's gotten to the point to where I can't imagine life without ANY of my family members; we've become that close! Mommy and daddy treat all of us kids with dignity and respect, but they WILL punish us if we overstep our boundaries. They are fair and firm in their punishment, and I think this is one of the reasons why I am the way I am today.
However, it is hard when one of the kids gets sick for one reason or another. It is bad enough when any of the healthy kids gets sick, but it is worse when sickness strikes one of the handicapped ones. Like the time when Ronee' had her stroke 2 years ago and we had come so close to losing her. The uncertainty we all felt was something I hope NEVER to feel again! Also the time when Johnny had his last breathing crisis. Again, we nearly lost HIM, and we were all so scared and worried that he was going to die. I know kids get sick from time to time, but whenever I come home and see an ambulance parked in our driveway with its lights flashing, and the front door standing wide open, I never know what I may expect to "find" when I come into the house.
I sometimes get jealous of the handicapped kids because it's like more attention is focused on THEM instead of the "normal" kids like myself, and I sometimes wish I had been born disabled. I know it sounds stupid, but this is how I happen to feel sometimes, and I can't help the way I feel.
The familiar lament of dual-career parents raising children is, "I just can't do it all." The Libra Solution provides an alternative - a more satisfying and sustainable work and life approach - to the overwrought modern day norm.
