Tomorrow is not ours to see...
Not the only one who knows firsthand how life can turn on a dime so things are no longer quite the same, I’ve learned to pivot from the notion “this is as good as it gets”.
As we enter the grace period of this year’s Thanksgiving holiday, my gratitude is grounded in appreciation for each day that rises and sets without a crisis to pull a rug out from under my feet.
Thus far, each day’s succession has been on an even keel with no cause for alarm:
My elderly mother is of sound mind and stable health. My geriatric cats, 14 and 17 years of age, still rule the roost, none the worse for wear. Still, my apprehension predisposes me to monitor their eating and litter tray habits.
Blessed with good health I never take for granted, I’m appreciative for the independent lifestyle it affords. Not just for myself, but for making it possible to continue in my capacity as caregiver.
Aligned with my perspective on gratitude, I’ve pondered the presence of a ladybug in my home this week, focusing on its spiritual symbolism:
A persevering insect, the ladybug is able to withstand unfavorable events in nature, just as we must withstand stress and strife.
Her presence is a reminder for us to find happiness and satisfaction in the little things in life.
As one’s fine fortune does not last forever, it behooves me to bask in the glory of gratitude for each today blessed with peace and tranquility.

I am so grateful that I have been lucky enough to have help that has been consistent over these past 27 years where I've had to rely on others, and most importantly, my partner, to live life in the rather restricted way that I do now. But I'm still able to explore the world via the Internet and television while I dream up stories from my past experience that people tell are so real.
You and I know that more urgent and troubling times are right around the corner. So each day is a real blessing that we have.
