This is truly a sad day in baseball, for after 25 years as a major league baseball player, Jayson Gannon announced his retirement from being an active baseball player, deciding to mainly concentrate on his managerial duties with the Cincinnati Knights.

Jayson Gannon, after playing for the Philadelphia Diamonds for 10 years, then playing for the Pittsburgh Gold Stockings for another 10 years, then playing for the Cincinnati Knights the last 5 years, 25 years of putting together a career that will be the gold standard of being a model of consistency and having been playing major league baseball since he was the age of 16 years old, having turned 40 years old, Jayson felt that it was time to retire and feeling that he had a lot to offer to continue being a team leader as the team field manager.

Having set records in almost every playing and batting category, Jayson Gannon will always be looked upon the standard for every baseball player that will ever play in the future.

In 25 baseball seasons Jayson was on 18 regular season pennant or division winning teams and was on 16 championship winning teams and having won 7 Player Of The Year Awards, 9 batting titles, and also establishing records like the 10 consecutive hits that he achieved in 1892, the record 58 consecutive game hitting streak in 1873 and also the record 1360 consecutive games played between the 1882 to 1894 seasons.

Of course Jayson Gannon would have had a better record , if it were not for the mysterious Henry Pennington who played for the Boston Lobsters, who was a thorn in Jayson Gannon’s side, who mysteriously disappeared as mysteriously appearing, going head to head with Jayson, but Jayson got the last laugh over Henry by winning 5 team championships against Henry’s Boston Lobsters team.
