As a sometimes official or unofficial 'Yat reporter for Smiley Anders, I still can't believe that I didn't remember or I maybe didn't even know till within this past year about "Yakamein," the official hangover helper for New Orleans folks!
Mary, one of my colleagues, sometimes treats us to Yakamein, but, its on the job, so it's certainly not for hangovers, unless from work, LOL ...
I guess I didn't have too many hangovers in college, although I do remember once when I went to a Loyola fraternity party on Freret Street, near Broadway, and thought I was just enjoying some nice Hawaiian Punch and a little bit of alcohol, but unfortunately, I found out later - the hard way - it was Everclear (190 Proof)!
All I remember, is that the next day, my mom nursed me back with some soup, which just very well may have been, Yakamein ...
i do not know this remedy either. and since i quit drinking while in my twenty's (50 years ago) i don't remember doing much for hangovers that i did have, but wait until they passed.
but again for those who might need it, go for it.

I have never heard of Yakamein. But if it works, more power to it. Where I come from, I can't say that I had many hangovers. But it was said that drinking tomato juice helped… Preferably spiked with vodka, as in a Bloody Mary for breakfast. For simpler folks… just say a little bit of, "The hair of the dog," another beer or two.
The only time I remember was after too many Black Russians, the next morning I couldn't stand my normal morning coffee at work.
