Latest update on my recent posts regarding the parole of my sons killer.
I have previously posted information regarding the release from prison of the person responsible for the murder of my son Darian, who has spent the last 21 years incarcerated for this crime. I had made an uncertain decision not to appeal to the Parole Board (as I had done in the past) regarding prohibiting his parole.
After making this decision, I found out that he was indeed granted parole and would be released back into the public in January 2021. This information was not what I wanted to hear but was something I knew I must accept. I continued to ponder and pray as to whether or not I had done the right thing because I certainly was not happy about the thought of him being released. Then again perhaps this young man did deserve another chance; perhaps he has been rehabilitated and will turn his life around while incarcerated and will be a better person, a changed person.
I received a call yesterday from the New York State Department of Corrections informing me that this young man is still in custody and will not be released until he goes before the Parole Board again! I am not privy to the reasons why this has happened, I was just told that new information has been discovered which will hold him in custody.
