“I’ll be at ‘escrow’ soon as they open tomorrow. I should have the ‘docs’ back by late afternoon. As soon as I have them, if you’re back from Mexico, I’ll meet you at the hotel to get your signatures. If you’re not back, I’ll leave a message and meet you later or early in the morning, could even do it in the terminal, if need be.”

BOW Life Goes On #16

San Diego, California

February 28, 1974

5:40 p.m. Pacific Standard Time

“Thank you, Katie.”

“You’re welcome…. I’ll be back soon’s it’s ready.”

“What do you and Mitch plan on doing tomorrow?”

“We’re planning on renting a car and look around our new city.”

“We thought we’d drive out towards Sea world,” Mitchell said, “then to Coronado Island and then head into Mexico.”

“If you’re just going to ‘Tijuana’, I’d suggest that you leave the car in the parking lot on the American side and walk across the bridge into Mexico. Going into Mexico is never a problem. They don’t care and you aren't checked on this side or the other. But be ‘sure’ to have both your driver’s license or some major kind of identification so you can get back into the ‘U.S.’.”

Taking his second taste of ‘Margarita’. “That’s really good!” Licking salt from his lips.“We always have our driver’s licenses with us, but thanks’ for letting us know.”

“When do you plan on flying home?”

Drawing ‘ball-banger’ through a straw. “Day after tomorrow,” Marsha said. “Plane takes off in the morning at nine-twenty.”

“How do we get the down payment to you?”

“I’ve set this for a ‘concurrent close’.” Seeing a look of confusion on Marsha’s face. “That means that as soon as your home ‘closes’ and records to the new owners, the funds for your new home, your home here, will automatically be wired into escrow and will, concurrently, record into your name.”

“Then it’ll be ours and we’ll be able to move in whenever we want?”

“Yes. Tomorrow’s March first and, unless something unforeseen happens, you should be able to be in on April one.”

Looking over Sophie’s shoulder, heading in their direction Marsha spotted ‘old’ Katie carrying a large, fully loaded tray raised at head level, in one hand.

Setting the tray onto a small nearby tale, Katie first placed a basket of large, still warm wedges of  sour dough bread along with a dish containing one quarter pound of fresh dairy cream butter.

Marsha’s rack of lamb came next — causing a small gasp due to the delicious aroma emanating from the well ordered dish.

The waitress next placed oval shaped dishes before Sophie and Mitchell, each dish containing three oven baked, breaded barracuda fillets dappled with lemon sauce.

“That looks wonderful!”

“Oh, yes…” Sophie said “...and wait till you taste it.”

All three dishes also contained a large Idaho baked potato dotted with chive sprinkled sour cream and a generous helping of saluted asparagus…

A chilled dish contained a thick wedge of ‘ice berg’ lettuce topped with the rich looking homemade garlic dressing.

“Another drink?”

“No…” Katie said “...I’m driving.” Looking at Mitchell “...you?”

His large bell shaped glass of margarita still three quarters full. “No, I’m just fine, thank you.”

Taking his first taste of baked barracuda… Hailing a passing waitress. “Can you please ask Harriet to come over, when she has a spare minute."

“Yes, Sir,” she said, hurrying off.

“You’ve a problem?”

“A ‘problem’…” Mitchell said as he cut, brought to his mouth and chewed another fork full of baked barracuda “...no problem at all, Sophie. Just the opposite.”

Suddenly appearing along-side their table. “You wanted to see me?”

Moving his chair back a few inches so he could better see Harriet.

“We’ll be into our new home in about thirty days and the first time we go out for dunner, we’ll…” motioning to his wife “...see you again because this…” tapping the dish with his fork “...is positively delicious!”

“Thanks, I appreciate you saying that. Many of our customers have been coming back for years because of our barracuda dishes...” Harriet said “...but you’d better call first ‘cause barracuda is not a menu item because it doesn’t come in every day and ‘must’ be prepared within a certain time after being caught.”

“Your rack of lamb done right, Marsha?”

“Delicious, Harriet...Just delicious.”

“If you're going to meet this one…” jerking her thumb at Sophia "…...le’me know and…”comically wiggling her right eyebrow up and down  ".. I’ll get us a room, eh Sophie?”

Saying nothing, a thin smile appeared on Sophie Chin’s lips.

“Harriet, your husband mister, uh…”

“ ‘Lipschultz’.”

“Yeah ‘Lipschultz’. The name is familiar but …” tapping his head “...I can’t bring it up…. Where’s he from?”

“Poland first, then New York City where he got his citizenship, then here. Why?”

“Thought maybe my family knew his family or something.”

***

“Hi, Mom!”

Glancing at the clock in the kitchen: 9:42

“Now is kind of late! Couldn’t you have called earlier? Plane could have crashed and I wouldn’t know.”

“It’s only after seven here, Mom.” Rolling his eyes,.“When’s the last time there was a ‘plane crash’ and everybody in the world didn’t know? Sorry, but we just got in. How’s everything there?”

“Well, just saying you should have called earlier. Your children were waiting all day to hear from their mother and father. They’re fine...” said angrily “...your children are just fine. They waited all day to talk to you, but they’re asleep now except for your Michael… So, you see the news?”

“News?” Shrugging his shoulders,. “We just got in. What news?”

“A blizzard!”

“Huh?”

“Started this afternoon at about one and hasn’t stopped for a minute. Good thing you’re not coming back tomorrow, ‘cause they’ve closed ‘O’Hare’.”

“There’s a blizzard there,” he told Marsha. “It’s so bad they closed the airport.”

“I can’t wait till we get out of here and get away from this ‘farshtinkener’ weather! How’s the weather there?”

“Beautiful, Mom. Had to be, at least seventy-eight when we got in tonight.”

“Three more weeks for us and your father and me will be out of here heading to where you are.”

 ****

Flying to San Diego a month earlier, Walter and Myra had purchased a house… Well, actually, Walter had purchased the house and Myra went along with it because…

…Myra went along with it because, (1) Walter was rather insistent and, (2) Myra knew that because Walter had insisted, she’d have something… A ‘major’ ‘something’ to hold over her husband’s head because the house Walter insisted on purchasing was located in a subdivision of less… far less expensive houses because:…

Off of ‘Miramar Road’ and U.S. 5, this particular subdivision was located in one of ‘Marine Corps Air Station Miramar’s’ direct outgoing flight patterns.

Notation.. .

(Marine Corps Air Station Miramar (MCAS Miramar)  is a United States Marine Corps installation that is home to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, which is the aviation element of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. Is located in Miramar, San Diego, California, about 10 miles north of Downtown San Diego.)

****

“So…” Myra asked “...how’d the house hunting go?”

“First day, crappy. That’s why I didn’t call, because there was nothing to say. But that evening we got a call from a broker Jane had recommended and on the second day Sophie brought us to the most beautiful place you could imagine.”

“So, this the place you bought’?”

“Yeah, mom It’s beautiful! It’s smaller than ‘Schaumburg’, but there’s three nice sized bedrooms and a fourth that’s kind of small, but there’s two and half baths and a family room…”

“The kitchen? How’s the kitchen?”

“It’s much smaller than we have now, but Marsha says it’s completely workable and outside… Mom, the outside is beautiful!”

“So how much is this ‘beautiful place’?”

Hesitating a moment, “We got it for one-ten.”

“ ‘One-ten’? You mean you paid for that house ‘one hundred, ten thousand dollars’!”

Looking helplessly at Marsha, shrugging his shoulders and rolling his eyes…

“Yes, Mom. Marsha’n’me paid ‘one hundred-ten thousand dollars’ for that house.” Adding “And it’s worth much more.”

“My dear sweet son…”

How Mitchell ‘hated’ hearing those words and the tone of voice that accompanied those words that he’d heard ‘so’ many times throughout his lifetime.

“ ‘My dear sweet son’, we paid seventy-nine thousand for where we’re moving… ‘Seventy-nine thousand’ isn’t enough for your wife…” adding after a moment’s hesitation “…and you?”

Becoming angry, “Mom, ‘no’! We’re leaving a beautiful home and we want to move to a beautiful home and we’ve four kids and there’s only you and dad! Besides, we made enough on the house in Schaumburg to do it!” Thinking— but not saying: And we aren’t going to be living at the end of a God-damned jet propelled runway.

“Well ‘I’ think it’s too much money! But who am ‘I’ to tell you and your wife what to do?”

Answering her own question. “I’m ‘only’ your mother… Here, your son wants to talk to you.”

“Good night M…”

“Hi, Dad!”

Realizing she’d passed the phone to Michael,. “Hi’ya, Mikie!”

Hearing the conversation between his grandmother and father. “So, how’s our new home?”

“ ‘Beautiful,’ Mikie! Just you wait till you see it.”

“Does it…”

Knowing his question. “Yes, Mikie, it does have a pool!”

“ ‘Yea’!”

“And there’s a Jacuzzi, too.”

“No kidding?”

“I wouldn’t kid you, kiddoo. And you know something else…” changing the subject “...your new high school…”

“What’s it’s name?”

“The school you’ll be going to?”

“Yeah, just curious.”

“ ‘La Mesa’… And I’ve got it on good authority that there’s lots of ‘really’ good looking girls at La Mesa high.”

Thinking a moment, Michael’s mind went to ‘Beach Blanket Bingo’. “California girls?”

“Yeah, Mikie! This is California after all, so it goes to reason that the girls in your high school would be ‘California girls’, right!”

“Yeah…” his mind still on a California girl wearing a ‘very’ scant bikini at the beach on a blanket with him laying beside her… laying ‘very’ closely beside her “...and I can hardly wait!

When the family had been informed that they would be moving to California, both Marsha and Mitchell had been concerned that their worst problem would be with Michael having to leave his friend… ‘California girls’ apparently had solved that problem.

“How’s the weather there?”

Flicking the outside light switch and parting the café curtain in the kitchen. “Lousy, Dad. It’s been snowing almost all day and it’s windy and freezing out there.”

“Marcy, Mikie says ‘it’s been snowing all day and it’s windy and freezing outside’! So what say as soon as I hang up we get into our bathing suits and go on down for a swim?”

“Aw, Dad…” incredulously asked “...come on, you’re joking me.”

“Yeah, Mikie, we’re not going swimming, but guess what…? If we wanted to, it’s warm enough to do it.”

“I can’t wait, Dad.”

“Yeah, Mikie, me, too… Goodnight.”

“ ‘nite, Dad.”

****

That evening Mitchell Lipensky’s mind had been on three things: The paperwork securing their new home now in the hands of Sophie Chin and the escrow company with nothing more for he and Marsha to do… Try to instigate sex with his wife and…”

Still hidden within his mind… “Marcy, do we know anyone with the name of ‘Lipschults’?”

“I would have told you before, when you were questioning Harriet. No, Mitchie, can’t think of anyone.”

Fully clothed, lying side by side on the king size bed trying to decide if they wanted to go for a walk or to change into their bathing suitsd and go for an evenings swim in the 'Shelter Inn's' beautiful pool overlooking the ocean before going to bed.

Cuddling closely, Marsha’s body pressed ‘really’ close onto her husband’s side.

Feeling extremely content over this lovely Californioa day and meeting the Sawyers and Sophie and most ‘especially’ about ‘their new home’…

Also sensing a vaginal ‘awakening’.

“Mitchie...”

Asking something Marsha hadn’t asked in years:…

“Mitchie…” whispered into his ear. “...you want to eat my pussy?”

Solving one part of Mitchell’s quandary…

“You want to suck my cock?”

“Yes!”
